He's supposed to at least try. That's a key part of his character. Differentiates him from say...the Punisher.

Superman's biggest weakness, besides Kryptonite, is that he cares. He's too much of a boy scout. People take advantage of his idealism but he never wavers. The moment he stops caring (or a a bad writer writes him to not even acknowledge the situation) is the moment he's just this untouchable god. Now, untouchable gods can be interesting (see: All-Star Superman or The Birth of Mr. Manhattan*), but it needs to be an intentional writing decision and not just writers getting wrapped up in the "cool" spectacle of action figures smashing together repeatedly a la Transformers.

I love how this logic only applies to him not being able to avoid or try to avoid destruction, but a guy who has never been in a fight can take on seasoned military vets and not get stomped out is just good writing. I mean if he's still learning then he's green on everything.

Shame we're not getting a sequel. I believed in Snyder's vision even with BvS being underwhelming, he just didn't get the time to flesh it out.

Studio intervention really fukked the franchise up. Although some elements were rushed and shoehorned in...(Lois and Clark's relationship, Doomsday should've been Bizarro, Pa Kent going out like a sucker, the BS Jimmy Olsen cameo, Supes and Bats hating each other for seemingly no reason, Lex Zuckerberg, to name a few) I refuse to believe BvS and Justice league with Snyder unchained would have been as lackluster as they were. They may not have been the movies some fans wanted, but they would have been good movies nonetheless.

I'm not even a Superman fan, and I was geeked about where they were going to take the story.

well Batman had his reasons. Bruce saw the destruction and mayhem first hand and lost people at Wayne tower and shyt and he didn't understand the good that Superman was doing and represented.

That’s why I’m glad. I’m not a comic book geek and just watched a movie for what it is.

Y’all wanted him to be a corny ass cac from the 50’s. But this is the present. That’s not the case. shyt this is literally the 1st fight he has ever been in. His mom life was threaten. His emotions had to be on a million. His life is on the line. Since y’all want him to be 50’s type Superman. You have to learn somewhere. The next fight he more strategic and does everything to prevent any type of damage or deaths. But that’s some cartoony type corny shyt imo

Like I said I’m no geek. Don’t read comics, but as far as movies Man of Steel is one of the best comic movies of all time. Top 5 easy.

Man stop it. You like the movie and that's fine. It's your top 5 and that's fine.

You are standing up for the same people that thought retroactively making Gotham the city across the river from Metropolis was the best way to integrate Bruce into the story.

They could just as easily have made Zod absorbing all the sun for the first time send him over the edge and not being able to control it(like kid Clark) and Supes tries to save him and the city before having to make a choice. There were literally hundreds of decisions all over the movie that could have altered that story but those are the ones they made and we judge them by those. It has nothing to do with what a Superman comics from the 50s, 60s, or 70s, or 2000s did.


Captain America in the FA didn't just say, oh well, it's my first mission so it's okay not to try save everyone. Superman is a hero first and foremost.
