What's up with people hating on "Man of Steel"?

It was a decent movie but I think the tone of the movie is the biggest problem.

Superman can't be dark and dull the same way Batman can't be all bright and sparkly. Tone matters.

Dude was punching Zod through all those buildings like Metropolis magically got evacuated in 5 minutes. Pa Kent was retarded, the romance with Lois was so forced and didn't feel natural.

People shyt on Marvel movies too. I thought Iron Man 2 and Thor 2 were trash, I also thought Guardians of the Galaxy was mediocre.

Yeah you're right they do, but the talk for DC movies can get RIDICULOUS to a point, even when they only have had a few movies out so far lately. I feel like Marvel's only had like several good ones out of all the one's they had so far. And even those ones you can pick the shyt out of em. That's just how it is with all comic book movies.

"I am here to destroy the planet because ????" isn't a good plot. I agree that many superhero stories suffer from this flaw but MoS kinda didn't have anything else going on that would help you over the plot hump.

A joyless, morose Superman is unsatisfying. The "real" Superman is pleasant.

You GOTTA have him save EVERYONE. With his powerset, saving every single person in danger isn't even a stretch. He would barely need to interrupt his fight with Zod. Comic Superman could slip a handwritten note in all of the citizens of Metropolis' pockets in 1 second flat. Kinda dumb, but that's his powerset.

I'll say it again, Marvel movies are far from perfect, but they at least tend to get the characters right (or at least, the hero). Man Of Steel is a movie that doesn't understand its main character and his appeal. There's a reason why a lot of people are like "I don't care about Superman and I liked it" *insert shrug smiley of choice* while most genuine fans of the character don't like it.

And Superman doesn't have to be perfect, because nobody is. But he has to push himself to be as close as, because he's supposed to inspire the best in us.

This is all I wanted. That destruction was on par with the cartoon and comics. shyt was amazing. fukk a story, I never liked Superman anyway
