The PS3 made Japanese gamers straight up abandon Sony altogether because it was a graphics whore competition from there on out. A lot of 3rd party companies that was exclusive to Sony, had to go to M$ and X Box to break even, profit wise, outside of Japan. And you act like Sony gave full-on freedom when more and more info coming out by the day they did A LOT WORSE than Nintendo with their 3rd party companies.

But hey, anything for super realistic graphics and DLC content that has to be enforced just to break even these days.
The Xbox 360 came out before the PS3. Sony didn’t force developers to go into these insane AAA budgets the publishers decided to go that route. Everything doesn’t have to be an overinflated AAA budget game.

I told ya what the deal with nintendo was and is. They understand what it means to be a brand, and they are strict about quality control. If it's not up to their standards (whatever those might be at the time) Its :camby: and thats softened up a lot, they use to be absolutely brutal with it back in the NES days.

Everything they create they do there best to turn it into a brand of its own within the Nintendo brand. You aren't paying 50, 60 or 70 because of the game. You are paying it because of the brand, and that brand is associated with quality "fun and gameplay"

And just like with any other mainstream popular brand, there are a lot of people that hate nintendo but own almost every system or at least a few. You really have no choice because it's that popular. Nikkas will say how they hate jordans but there is always that pair that catches there interest like :patrice: At some point nintendo has something that peaks your interest and you are going to pay top dollar for it:manny:

There's a reason there are constant nike, puma adidas and other popular name brand that do cross products with nintendo but little, limited or none with MS and sony.

Nintendo is name brand, an OG, innovative, and popular from kids to adults and usually cheaper than any other video game system on the market.

Another huge thing is they typically look at gaming from a "Is it fun" point of view 1st instead of "how can we capture the hearts, or tell the story of" which is something most Triple A games do not do. Infact if you stripped the story down to the bare minimum on your Favorite AAA games and had to rely on the gameplay to carry you through the 10 hours of the game how many of you would make it past hour 3 or 4? If that....

Most nintendo games, the story is just a vehicle for the gameplay and not the other way around.

eh they a couple generations, before nintendo reversed the pin on em. then stomped out sonys whole handheld business for good measure

And Sony stomped out Nintendos home console business. People forget that it was getting so bad for Nintendo that they also went from a two hardware line up down to one, which is what the Switch is.

The gap between the PS1 and N64 was 32m to 103m

The gap between the GameCube and PS2 was 22m to PS2’s 155m

The gap between the PS3 and Wii was 88m to 103m

The gap between the Wii U and PS4 was 14m to 117m

Nintendo has been surviving through its handheld line up which is why they did a hard pivot to the Switch which is ultimately the successor to the 2DS not the Wii U

switch is a home console with its own screen and battery. that’s an evolution in consoles period. that’s not desperation that’s something they all should have been doing a long time ago. ahead not behind. who is consuming media today in a living room more than in the 2…3 feet in front their face? and its doing bigger numbers than everybody else combined, what’s the gap on that

The Switch at the end of the day is using a mobile chipset from 2015, you can dress it up anyway you like but it’s a handheld. Having an HDMI port doesn’t make it a home console, its functionality is what says it isn’t. Everything it’s designed around is it’s usage as a portable device, its cpu, battery life, screen size, controllers, etc.

And yeah, the switch is doing great but it’s not a 1:1 comparison anymore, it released in 2017, we’d have to see where this current generation ends up in about 5 more years. I bet the gap won’t be as significant as any of the years listed though

The mere fact that you have to rush home from school/ work just to plug in an oversized console just to enjoy a game or to finish the story mode, is anarchic in itself. That's mad outdated and the hassle of the old traditional way almost made me quit console gaming.
