What Sets Nintendo Apart From Sony and Microsoft?

Games that can be played by children, controller innovation, iconic franchises that continue to have great, well-reviewed games

Like my nieces and nephew wanted to get into gaming. The first thought that came to my mind was the Switch, not an Xbox or PlayStation, and my sister and her husband got them a switch. They are getting older now and want a PS5, but their first introduction was with Nintendo. I think that is the case for a lot of gamers, throughout the decades

I don't understand how people still buy this stuff. Maybe because todays parents grew up on it and they buy it for their kids.
It's just inferior..it has been since N64. They've been behind the curve for over two decades. Embarassingly behind. People buy their hardware to play 5 to 10 games per generation.

Millions of people buy Xboxes and PlayStations just to play the same 3 or 4 franchises. COD, Madden, 2K and GTA.

It's their IP, they will be able to release these every generation and people will buy:

Mario platformers
Legend of Zelda
Mario Kart
Super Smash
Luigi's Mansion
Donkey Kong
Animal Crossing
Metroid
Pokemon
Mario Party
Kirby
StarFox
Fire Emblem

Another solid point for all of these, is that they are usually great to amazing games.

Xbox has a portfolio full of "Ben Simmons why the fukk did you pass up that layup??" IP. Particularly in the family friendly space.

I used to think like this when I was younger but its not so much that their games are "kiddie" but they are made with universal appeal in mind. Just as many adults play shyt like Pokemon and Super Mario. There really is a charm to their games that isn't found in alot of stuff on the market.

Nintendo is a terrible company. When they had power they ruled with tyranny and the best case scenario for gaming was them becoming exactly what they became. They’re an insular company where third parties can have their games on platforms where the platform holders treat them better and Nintendo can have their Nintendo boxes people mostly buy just to play Nintendo games on and nothing else.

Nintendo used to dictate how many games companies could make and what platforms the games could appear on. They didn’t want to let go of cartridges because it gave them control and when Sony stepped in and game third parties freedom it was a Godsend to gaming.

The PS3 made Japanese gamers straight up abandon Sony altogether because it was a graphics whore competition from there on out. A lot of 3rd party companies that was exclusive to Sony, had to go to M$ and X Box to break even, profit wise, outside of Japan. And you act like Sony gave full-on freedom when more and more info coming out by the day they did A LOT WORSE than Nintendo with their 3rd party companies.

But hey, anything for super realistic graphics and DLC content that has to be enforced just to break even these days.
