Western games vs Japanese games: Which ones do you like more?

Really? I feel storytelling is the weakest part of Japanese game. So much of it is either bare bones (Nintendo, Capcom) or extremely convoluted (Square Enix, Konami).

Honestly I'm shocked at the poll results. I love both like everyone else, but I feel like western game developers have just eclipsed their Japanese peers over the last 10-15 years.

Japanese all day every day, that's what I grew up on. However, there are a few western games that I've enjoyed playing over the years.

West got some franchises in that list that had a spark when they started...but hell so does Japan.

Think if it's an overall thing, Japan wins by a good margin. Past, Japan blows it away. More recent, West has a decent lead.
