Western games vs Japanese games: Which ones do you like more?

Last gen Japan had an identity crisis that crippled them.

They were caught at this weird crossroads where they tried to imitate western games as well jump off the console market into mobile. And they suffered greatly for it.

This gen they realized that they needed to make Japanese games again and stop chasing trends. People want Japanese studios to make Japanese games.

Japanese hands down. The stories and gameplay are way more creative. For western games there more linear and cinematic.

It's not subjective from a sales perspective at all..I mean if you take the GOAT Nintendo out of the equation its not even a question.

OP asks which do people like more? So it comes down to what people prefer, I struggle to fukk with those Kingdom hearts games even as a kid(just can’t get into it with all the Disney characters running around) and yet nikkas will swear it’s the greatest thing ever put on earth. It really all comes down to what individuals prefer, although when we examine sales like you said there is no comparison.

Western devs got lazy on us imo.

Be that as it may but the best games from the last generation and this one have been Western games. Yes we have had a lot of trash but also some quality games as well. Japanese dominated the PS1 and PS2 eras without a doubt no one can argue against that but last generation Western developers took over on some.........” I am the captain now”.
