Who's troll account is this?

:comeon: keep deflecting cause you have no answer.

And no "gay" people were not allowed to join the army. Thre were gay people in the army, because they lied about there sexual orientation, but official law stated that gay men were not allowed to join the armed forces.

That's what don't ask don't tell means. "you can't join if you are gay, so we just won't ask you, and you better not tell us if you are"

I can always do what you're doing in here and create facts that don't exist while ignoring ones that do....

I never said he should help JUST Black people...Those are your words...

You seem like either a true believer or a flat out apologist..

Either way, we don't see eye to eye on this issue...

Be safe....

Actually, in my first and second post I said I agree with some of Cornel's criticisms.

I just don't buy this notion that Obama is intentionally leaving out/ignoring black men. I can see plenty of things he has done or is trying to do that would help black men, that's all I said.

Name one. Gay people couldn't join the army, so he allowed them to, Latino families were and still are getting deported, so he helped them.

Name one law that says "black man can't _______"

Well fam...this isnt the 1890's, so there arent EXPLICT laws that point out black men. Hell...in the 1890s, the amount of blacks in slavery were LESS than the amount of black men chained to the prison industrial complex today. It doesnt need to be spelled out for it not to be present. While the laws are implicit, the RESULTS are NOT. Have you ever heard of the Stop & Frisk policies in NY? How about the Three Strikes Rule? What about the overtly disproportionate Rockefeller Drug Laws? How about the well documented reports of mortgage companies targeting black and brown families with toxic home loans? Speaking of targets...what about your local police department targeting me and violating my constitiutional & civil rights just for being in a particular part of town at a certain time. Not to mention my life might be on the line if I even look at Mr Officer the wrong way. Police brutality is just as much an issue today as it was back when we were on the plantation - but they werent called the police then, they were called "paddy rollers". And this is just the tip of the iceberg off the top of my head. I dont mind you having a disagreable opinon, fam, but you need to open your eyes and ears a bit more - it's all in plain sight.

All things considered this is pretty bad when you've done nothing but say, "what has he done for black people," with no concept of what you want. Then the guy you're pos repping list things that 95% of which have been addressed by the administration in one way or the other. California just voted down the 3 strikes law on election day anyhow.

gator king was looking for specific laws/issues and there are none. Obama could have made provisions to the prison industrial complex, but that wouldn't just effect black people, and people such as yourself and gator would just say "well he did that for Latinos cause they're in jail too"

Plus many of the issues you posted have been addresses by Obama in one way or another, and plenty of other issues that plague black people have been addresses as well.

No you weren't. You want specific policies geared towards black people but you can't pinpoint what you want them to be. Unlike the aforementioned issues for women, minorities and hispanics which each have been talked about for a decade or more.

I guess the Office e created focusing on African-American education isn't direct enough.

I have no idea why you're :snoop: when you're the one coming across as having justifiably but unfocused complaints. FYI, it's obvious that not saying "to be," was a typo.

I guess you argue here the same way you argue in the Booth. Carry on, this type of discussion is boring.

the rockefeller laws and the crack-cocaine disparity were reduced significantly
stop and frisk is a local law that obama has no control over and three strikes is a state law in cali that was just modified last week

if anybody has been paying attention the justice dept has been getting agreements with local police depts over civil rights issues all over the country

in other words most of what you mentioned has been addressed or is being addressed or has nothing to do with the federal govt

if anything what you posted shows the importance of voting in local elections

but as to the larger issue/question, this is why i have a problem with "progressivsim" its putting out this notion that the only thing standing between black people and prosperity is government policy, which IMO is not true

you can't have black prosperity without dealing with black culture, obama should focus on changing black culture, you can have a war on poverty and eliminate the so called prison industrial complex and have a "progressive" president and i can bet you that black people's economic problems would not end, because the culture that causes those things would still exist

I know Obama is not a magician and does not possess a magic wand for black folk. haha But what I do want from him and from ANY prez is to not just reform, but dead the current prison/judicial system to help brothas who are permanately locked out of any positon to be not only economically viable in this country, but be a regular member of society and not reduced to second class citizenship status forever. But I know that wouldnt happen because prisons are profiting billions. That's just my wishful thinking. lol

I actually read that proposal in Cali a few days ago....it's softened the blows from the law which previously existed, but that shyt is STILL harsh and still lays out a trap for dudes. Does it remedy the tens of thousands of men who already felt it's wrath before last week election? A lot of collateral damage has been done. If I can recall, 24 states still have the law in some shape or form. And I think Obama did reform the Rockefeller drug laws. While it used to times 100 times the amout of cocaine than crack to get the same sentence....it now 19 times. It should be 1 to 1.
