Stop comparing body building to weight lifters. Body builders focus on looking big. Weight lifters focus on being strong. There's a huge difference.

Go look at strong man competitions you'd never see a purely calesthenics nikka keeping up with nikkas pulling semi trucks. Idc how many pull ups or dips you can do.

These dudes don't workout..

For starters, all gains are made in the kitchen. Yes thats a popular quote, but its just facts..

Secondly calisthenics, IMO, will never beat high rep weight training..

We'd put 140lbs worth of 10lb weights on the bar, do reps of 10, while dropping 20lbs after each rep. We did that until our muscles were on fire..

That can be done with any muscle group on the body and will have you cut.. Then if you wanted to get bigger, you'd increase the weight and make adjustments in the diet.

All this jumping from trees and climbing mountains is cool, but will never take the place of basic weight lifting techniques.

Take your time to explain why
Don’t need to all you gotta do is add resistance once bodyweight becomes to easy that’s all the body knows is resistance. You not gonna sit here and tell me a dude that can strap 3 45 plates to him and knock out 15 pull-ups ain’t strong as fukk

Idk much about calisthenics.. As far as the pros and cons i mean

I lift weights :yeshrug:

I do a lot of push ups.. Mostly decline. I mix in regular and incline here and there... But I also bench.

I do high rep deep squats but that's with weights too.. Not too heavy tho

I can crunch damn near all.the weights on the ab crunch machines but I also do cycle crunches and declined sit ups

I do a lot of cardio. Outdoor run (5mile) ...treadmill (2 mile - 8min per pace) and elliptical.. Heavy bag and shadow boxing (occasionally with resistance bands)

Also use resistance bands with hip thrusts..

I'm not concerned with getting "swoll" at my age. Its all.about overall fitness, strength and stamina for me

I max bench around 240 ... Squat 210 maybe

Deep squats I don't go over 100.. A trainer told me deep squating heavy will fukk your knees up in the long run.. Don't know how true that is but I don't wanna find out the hard way

trainer lied to you....understand that trainers like to keep you on the hook. So they don't tell you everything that they do or what worked for them and honestly some of the trainers aren't really in shape or experienced either. It's a sales game.
