I'm still torn. On one hand she'd be awesome for it. On the other hand will they let her do her thing and are they going with "well you're a woman and you're black, here are your two choices: black panther or captain marvel. See one is black and the other is a woman!"
If she said, "I'm actually really passionate about Thor: Ragnarok/The Inhumans and here is my vision for those projects." And her take wound up being compelling I doubt Marvel would say "Na, you stay in your minority box."

Still let's keep it trill, she likely would be more interested in BP or CM than the other two films on the slate without directors

A lot of times when you play ball with those big studios though, you don't always have the option. Sometimes it's "i want to work with you" and they offer you projects. She very well could be interested in it and that's what she's getting but there's also the chance she just wants to work and they're giving her those two options. Kevin Smith has talked about that countless times and it's how he got to write on superman. He was taking meetings right before Mallrats was released and the studios had in mind what they wanted him to do. He didn't really want to write superman but warners offered it all because he had a scene in Mallrats mentioning superman. But they laid out a bunch of stuff that they had him in mind for and he passed on all of it and then they offered him the chance to write superman and be said fukk it

Or maybe that's what they offered her because those are the movies that are scheduled to go into production some time in this or the next year.

Kevin Smith is cool and everything but him negotiating with a studio after Clerks compared to Ava DuVernay negotiating with a studio after Selma are fairly different. One has gravitas, the other? Not so much.

Take a guess. It's not rocket science. lol
If she's a comic reader she could easily be a bigger Thor fan than captain marvel fan breh. And if she's never touched a comic in her life shed be apathetic towards all 4. To think she'd automatically favour captain marvel/BP because she's a woman that is black is kind of lame:mjlol:

True but that's normally how the system works. You get meetings and tell them what you want and then they offer you what they have or what they see for you. Especially big studios putting a lot of money behind stuff. It's not like marvel is some indie studio

Very true but this is why I'm torn personally breh. I can't speak for you or anyone else. I acknowledge both sides of the argument hence me saying I'm torn. Why not offer her spider-man? If there's any movie that could use a very good director behind the lense with a clear voice it's that. And she's a better choice than anyone on that reported shortlist from a week or two ago.

It's reality my G. Be a Black female and get offered to direct a movie about an African king or the first female led Marvel movie and turn it down to direct a 3rd sequel about a Norse god? How's that gonna play with her peers/community/personally? Not very well is my guess.

Because Spider-Man is still a joint effort with Sony and they still get the final call on the solo movies.
