Looking back at it, Drake's come up does seem a bit sketchy. Look at Wiz Khalifa & look at Drake. It took Wiz like 12 mixtapes to get on. He started back in 2005 & he didn't blow until 2010. You seen the kid's progression from here.....

Wiz Khalifa - Youngin On His Grind (Video) - YouTube

to here....

Wiz Khalifa - Say Yeah (Video) - YouTube

then finally here...

Mezmorized - Wiz Khalifa (Official Music Video) With Lyrics - YouTube

It was a long time coming with that nikka. Even with Kush & Orange Juice being one of the hottest mixtapes, none of them joints was on radio or BET/MTV & he had videos out. Drake's shyt looks a lil suspect in comparison. Grammy nominations. Constant rotations for his songs & videos on radio & TV. Becoming a household name before he dropped his 3rd tape :mjpls: shyt don't add up. The Warmup wasn't on the radio. Kush & OJ wasn't on the radio. Overly Dedicated wasn't on the radio. But So Far Gone was :mjpls:

Drake was either pushed or he had more personal resources than these other dudes. Not knocking the nikka. Just saying, you give a $100,000 and alot of industry contacts on your rolodex, which Drake had back then, to any young semi-dope rapper trying to make it & a good portion of the time, he'll blow. fukk, I wish i had that :sadcam:

Wiz was signed to Warner Bros. in 2007 before "Say Yeah" came out. So 2005 to 2007 is only 2 years to get a deal. Things went sour at Warner but Wiz still had his connects and also a moneyman behind him. Once you've been signed to a Major it's easier to get another deal because you've already laid out the groundwork. Drake put out "Replacement Girl" in 2007 & didn't get signed to Universal until 2009... 2 years... just like Wiz... one nikkaz situation went sour & the others didn't. Wiz bounced back & is now that nikka. Wiz came back & started working with Stargate who was arguably the biggest production team in the game... Drake ended up working with Wayne arguably the biggest nikka in the game at the time...

They have very similar paths & just because it took Wiz more mixtapes to blow then Drake doesn't mean anything. Big Sean put out about 4-5 mixtapes before he got signed to Def Jam even though he was already on G.O.O.D...

And that last paragraph is false... it's plenty of decent rappers out there that have had a lot of drug money behind them... waaaaaaay more then $100k, have had big features & major production & still haven't blown. Some nikkaz got it & some nikkaz don't...

While its clear he wasn't some disadvantage kid who ran up on a Cash Money tour bus with a demo tape.......

A lot of people on this site like to use conspiracy theories when it relates to a rapper blowing up they don't personally like. Some of you value your own opinion so highly that you can't objectively think that maybe people like things that you dont and werent forced to like said artist. I don't care for Drake's music at all but I understand that others do, a lot. It's not some weird situation that he was created in Universal's lab in a test tube to be bred as the next big star. They could develop the fukk out of him and if no one liked his music, no one will buy it.

By this same logic 2 Chainz is a plant as well because he all the sudden blew up out of nowhere thanks to features. You know as opposed to him falling back as Titty Boi, working on his style and music, and then catching fire.

This.

I have no idea why people even try to talk to Drake fans about anything anymore. Just let it go.

Let Drake fans/mainstream music fans believe what they want. They're convinced he blew up on his merit so they can like him more as an artist. It is what it is. Drake is liked by a lot of folks. Oh well. No one fan can control what the music industry does, so just let people think what they want about the artists they like.

Some rapper even more pop-oriented and emotional than Drake will come along and take his spot at some point. Y'all be better ready for it.

It's on you to listen to mainstream music in 2012... you already know what you're getting.

Honestly I was all in in the conspiracy thread like :ohhh:

then people said Joey Bada$$, Wiz Khalifa, & Kendrick Lamar were industry plants I was like :comeon:

Drake makes soft ass music, but he still has people's attention. You can't force that onto somebody. Drop the beat on stay scheming. the motto, no lie in the club, party, or concert and everyone knows will know verse, you can't force that on people.

Can you explain why out of J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean & Big KRIT.......Drake was on the only artist with music videos on TV & songs on radio before debuting. You could just say Drake was hotter but that would be very convenient :mjpls:

Ask yourself this. How many artists do most people listen to in a rotation at a given time?

Folks may KNOW of anywhere between 15-20 artists... but usually only 4-5 artists at a time really get play. For some, just 2 or 3. Plus they're gonna play every single on radio on Youtube and such.

It's not that hard to know all the popular songs out. Stay Schemin reached #58 on the Hot 100....... people know these songs when they're everywhere.

He was blowing when Wayne was at his peak... Wiz didn't have any co-signers... Big Sean didn't have a Major Label backing him until last year... Jay-Z wouldn't even pick up Cole's phonecalls & Kendrick Lamar is fukking with Dr. Dre in 2012 who nobody cares about...

A lot of shyt is timing... Wayne pushed Drake to his fans at a time when he was getting a shytload of attention. Has Jay ever brought Cole out at a concert? Wiz had no co-signers & name one person who cares that Kendrick is co-signed by Dr. Dre...

Timing is why Wiz didn't blow when he was signed to Warner Bros. but took off on Atlantic. His sound was too fresh in 2006-2007, he was doing shyt that nikkaz are just now catching on too, dude was ahead of his time...

If Wayne would've signed Wiz, who already had Pittsburgh on lock & brought him out on stage in front of 10k fans every other night he would've blown sooner. Kanye didn't even fukk with Big Sean like that... No ID had faith in dude & signed him, Ye' didn't even shop that nikka before 2010...

You really gonna type all that just because you don't want to admit Drake was pushed? :merchant:

If they could force people to like every single song that they put money behind they wouldn't be in the financial situations they are.

To act like everyone who is into a popular rapper only is because of some brand of marketing is a lie. Obviously there are people who jump on bandwagons to be associated with 'cool' but acting like it works on every person, on every song, cmon brehs.

Fam... nowhere have I ever stated Drake didn't have push... Wayne pushed the shyt out of that nikka cuz he believed in him... just like Wayne pushed the shyt out of Boo & Gotti cuz he believed in them... one blew & the others didn't...

Drake just happened to catch on...

Ya'll cats don't see how some of these artists have the same push, same resources, same money behind them... some blow & some don't...

Diddy has every resource known to exist in the music industry & it still wasn't enough for people to care about Machine Gun Kelly... some nikkaz blow, others don't, that's my whole point but this whole conspiracy shyt is stupid...
