The reason the "industry plant" talk is there is because they tried to play it like he was an independent artist when he was actually already signed. Thats it, nothing more nothing less. It doesn't matter if he was signed to Young Money or Universal, he was signed and they acted like he wasn't. Nobody is gonna say Jae Millz or Lil' Twist are independent artist, because they are presented as a Young Money artists. They get pushed as Young Money artists, not as independent artists doing it all on their own.
The point you can't seem to grasp is, the minute drake signed to young money, he was signed to cash money and universal. A major fukking label. And you've already admitted he had been signed to young money.
Then how come Lil' Twist isn't signed to Universal? Christina Millian isn't on Universal but she's on YM... Shyne is YM but not Universal. Please explain...

Because the distribution company has the right to drop the artist and say they aren't interested in releasing the album because they feel the artist won't run them a profit. They're the bosses they have that right. At which point the artist can try to find another company to distribute. The artist themselves do not have the right to sign to cash money, oops I mean young money and then choose not to deal with universal. Universal always has the rights to the artist first.
For example, glasses Malone signed to cash Money. Universal was pushing him originally,at some point they realized he wasn't going to do numbers so they dropped him and he got distribution from another company but still remained on cash money.

I got friends who were on TV shows in syndication on FOX for years that don't have a dime to their name now after getting used to $50,000 checks every 6 months. One of my friends was just in "Red Tails"... still stays at the crib with his moms...
Universal has the *OPTION* to pick up YM artists... it's not automatic when once you've signed which is why all those other artists on YM are *NOT* on Universal. They didn't want Drake until another label was interested then they exercised that option & Drake was pissed because he was beefing with Sylvia Rhone at the time...
