i dont think anybody even mentioned mariah.

JD chit is so deep, we didnt even have to bring up the fact that mariah was basically so so def.

JD is the one who really crossed her over into the hip-hop culture. then he went back and revived her career altogether when she was on her last legs years later.

i already addressed this.

that was the label putting them with random rappers on that later album, which they hated.
you act like they did tons of work with rappers before that...they had the wu tang remix and a Jay z remix.

Of course Kast alone did more for ATL than Kris Kross from a pure music standpoint. But JD was the first mogul from the city and he by himself did more for the scene than Kast ever did

From a pure musical stand point, again Kast did more than JD. Organized Noize and what they were able to do and Goodie Mob and what they were able to was made possible because of Kast's debut. And I see people brining up a cultural argument. You don't even get the terms Crunk or trap used in the manner that they are defined as without Kast's debut. I could go on.

All that took years tho. JD was established in the industry while Kast was still talking about being accepted

I’m not trying to google but I’m gonna say that JD is the first artist from the South to have a single with JayZ and a single with Biggie. He also put out the first kid rappers to go platinum and the first female rapper to go platinum. And I’m not even going in on his RnB stuff. Dude was a damn actual mini Puffy.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Sonically, we can't give credit to JD for that. What else sounded like Kriss Kross in Atlanta? And even with Kriss Kross, there was Another Bad Creation before them, who was produced by Dallas Austin who also produced the bulk of TLC's debut. There's no way to give credit for ATL's sound without crediting Dallas and even Organized Noize.
I already established that JD was biting. But the fact remains this nikka put too many ATL artists on the map to deny this. Nobody else in ATL sounded like Outkast like that either. So what’s that supposed to mean? Are we not gonna credit ATL for Crunk Music even tho its basically an offshoot of Memphis? And who was the King Of Crunk? Lil Jon. And who put Lil Jon on? Jermaine Dupri. shyt Jermaine bit from D4L wit Dem Franchise Boyz but that don’t change the fact that he made snap music popular with putting the sound on the map for the world first with White Tee. Was JD the first to discover Usher? Nope. It was Diddy. Did JD make Usher blow up by biting Timbaland’s sound and Ginuwine’s presentation? Yup. But regardless. JD is directly responsible for him turning into a megastar. It was under JD’s tutoring and production. We can keep naming people man. Fam even JD dropping Welcome To Atlanta was a big deal. U trippin brodie. Lol.

And this is why I laughed when JD said he influenced ATL more than Kast because this is the tune he was singing before:

Jermaine Dupri Picks The 10 Albums That Define Atlanta
Son u comparing a group to a whole ass mogul. Did Kast make the world take ATL serious on some rap shyt? Yup. But shyt. Even with Southernplayalistic the sound was a mixture of multiple regions of music. Highly west coast influenced as well. East Coast as well. But that don’t change the fact that JD is the MOGUL who put MOST of the most successful artists from there on the map in the first place. U talkin bout rap. But JD was RnB, Hip Hop, Pop, etc etc. This is a bad argument on ur part brodie.

After the success of Kris Kross everybody was trying to sign kid rappers from Da Youngstas to Illegal to Chi Ali. JD created a whole lane and was basically a kid himself. He even remixed Big Poppa. I will say that Kast gave ATL the respect from an MC standpoint but definitively not music as a whole. That was all JD

Yes, JD was established, but there's a difference between someone who is established and someone being established and being someone who people recognize as someone who turned their eyes and ears into something when they were looking elsewhere. That did not happen with JD because, again, him being from Atlanta wasn't something that was important. Nobody looked at him as representing Atlanta.

Breh. Kriss Kross wasn't even the first successful kid act from Atlanta. Follow the thread. Again, ya'll rewriting history for the sake of pushing the narrative that JD put ATL on the map. If JD put ATL on the map, why should it have fallen on Kast to give ATL respect from an MC standpoint. JD had put on Kriss Kross, signed Xscape and they dropped their album by the time Kast dropped their debut, yet someone who you say put the city on couldn't put a credible MC out?

They were the first successful hip hop group from ATL period. You can’t give that to ABC becuz they were singing more than rapping

U can’t say he didn’t put ATL on the map when literally 80% of the most successful artists from ATL in the 90s/ Early 00s are directly rooted from him. Lol. He’s done more for the ATL music scene than just about anybody. Lol
