I’m not trying to google but I’m gonna say that JD is the first artist from the South to have a single with JayZ and a single with Biggie. He also put out the first kid rappers to go platinum and the first female rapper to go platinum. And I’m not even going in on his RnB stuff. Dude was a damn actual mini Puffy.

Shid, Puffy is a giant JD if you wanna keep it a buck

And now people are really crediting JD with having the first kid rappers to go platinum? Really?

Another Bad Creation's debut album went platinum May 24,1991. This was nearly a full year before Kriss Kross came out. Ya'll in here rewriting history. Erasers and all. Ya'll gon have to brring ya'll #2 pencils today though.

Y'all favorite twitter queen was wildin last night huh

I kinda get what she means. When people talk En Vogue they’re talking the original 4, that’s two albums and a run that was done by 93, and it’s really Funky Divas that give them most their hits. “Don’t Let Go” was a huge single, but the album EV3 dropped after Dawn left and kinda mixed in how it was received.

EV has some mega hits, but I don’t think their legacy and music carried over to younger generations since they were kinda the last old school/soul R&B group and the ones to come after had more connections to hip hop. I don’t think EV has a good peer to match up against, their timeline is such that they don’t fit neatly into one of these and I could see how folks might not feel they have enough materiel. but they do deserve a moment - their harmonies can’t be touched.

JD said the hip hop version of En Vogue as well.

someone literally posted that clip in this thread

And En Vogue was supposed to be the new supremes, a new jack swing version of Motown girl groups. Outside of TLC (who some might consider a female BBD), every group was the new version of “x”.

Son that Mannie Fresh debacle ain’t have shyt to do with south vs East tho. That nikka Scott Storch was playing shyt from all over. Mannie was playing majority literally ONE group bruh. It’s a fukkin SHAME that Mannie didn’t get to step out and do more shyt for other people as dope as he is but it is what it is. And to add insult to injury the nikka was SUPER disrespectful during the battle. That was disgusting on Mannie’s part. And I 100% feel u on that ATL shyt. My issue ain’t with the South at all it’s SPECIFICALLY with how ATL been moving for years now.

nah, the coverage of it and everything was lopsided.
an east coast producer wouldnt have got done like mannie did in that battle.

its a battle. i dont think any PC guidelines were laid down beforehand. the backlash mannie got from that, is prolly the reason why gucci mane initially didnt want to be bothered with it.. and you see they threw their so-called morals out the window with the quickness and let gucci do what he wanted so they could profit off of his f*ckery.

so yea, i can see why the south feels some type of way about this stuff. that precedant has been set.

but we still agree about atlanta and their funny ways.

Breh, Jermaine Dupri was not synonymous with TLC. He produced like two songs for them and neither of them were major hits.

Puff and Jermaine were not the same animal. Bad Boy was a way bigger deal than So So Def. Puff had clout from working with Heavy D, Jodeci, and Mary J. Blige at Uptown.

puff was a behind-the-scenes guy at uptown. the public didnt know him. he also never wrote anything, nor made any beats.

bad boy had a bigger peak, but i wouldnt say they were a "WAY BIGGER DEAL".
