Nah at that moment in time JD wasn’t far off Diddy, this is the guy who was executive producing Mariah Carey and Usher albums, to say it’s laughable it’s revisionist history...

And how many platinum albums did Andre Harrell have the guy you initially compared him to?

This is the revision I'm talking about. In 1997, Jermaine Dupri wasn't executive producing Mariah albums. He had no involvement in Butterfly other than a So So Def remix to "Honey", which was a bonus song. He did in fact executive produce Usher's album, but that is not comparable to Puff that year who executive produced:

Biggie- Life After Death- Diamond

Mase- Harlem World- 4X platinum

Puff- Harlem World- 7X platinum

Puff had credits and features on Mariah's Butterfly, Jay Z's Vol. 1, Busta's When Disaster Strikes, and LL's Phenomenon.

Yet, you are in here saying JD wasn't far off Puff.

Andre Harrell wasn't an artist. The reason I used him for comparison is because breh was emphasizing the amount of artists JD put on to legitimize saying he is the face of Atlanta.

Yh he never executive producer her album till the 00’s you’re right, but he had production credits on Rainbow In 1999 and nearly every album, after the point, also him and Mariah were closely linked from the 90’s because he produced for her and also because Da Brat was her best friend so visually it could look like he played a bigger part than he did.

This also links to what we are saying visually Dupri positioned himself to be somewhat a Puffy of the south, he was linked to TLC Usher Mariah 3 of the biggest Rnb singers in the game and had production credits on their major albums... All he was missing was a Biggie or a Mass.

It's not the same though. Puffy wasn't just linked to these artists. Nobody looks at Puff and says "oh, he was in the videos". JD only did three songs for TLC in the 90's. Out of what he did for Mariah,, only "Always Be My Baby" was huge. Puff actually had multiple huge hits with artists we saw him with. For example, you're mentioning JD's work on Rainbow and the albums that came after. His work on those albums wasn't even what those albums were known for. He didn't do either version of "Heartbreaker" nor either version of "Thank God I Found You". I think "The Roof" was on there too and that wasn't JD either. Emancipation of Mimi is where JD really locked in with Mariah and it rejuvenated her as an artist and her career.

And I think a lot of you are being misled thinking JD playing a bigger role in a lot of music than he actually did, which leads people to think JD was a bigger deal than he actually was.

a lot of us aren’t doing anything, we lived it in real time. We know what and who JD was, and a quick Wikipedia look will refreshes the production timeline if anyone needs a reminder. I’m out but it’s clear you have your view no one agrees with, you really are just arguing to argue at this point as no one is changing sides

LOL, if ya'll lived this in real time, there would be no arguments about this. I mean, no one arguing with me ever provided anything beyond:

1) seeing JD in videos and his production credits as him being the face of Atlanta or putting the city on.

2) When questioned and called on it, you all fell back on well we read the interviews or really weren't clear on how you even knew he was from Atlanta.

3) Kept rewriting history saying that JD was the first mogul when Dallas Austin had a label. Then said that JD started the whole kid rapper lane when it was already established that Another Bad Creation came before Kriss Kross and yes Another Bad Creation also rapped even though they sang too. Doesn't negate anything. Further rewrote history saying that JD by overstating JD's involvement in TLC albums, was responsible for crossing Mariah over into Hip Hop, was on equal footing with Puffy on 1997, and a host of other BS that was debunked. No proof or evidence of anything ya'll were actually arguing. I come with receipts and ya'll still argue. Just history rewrite after rewrite.

If we could legit have discussionswhere:

1) Person A makes a claim and Person B calls Person A out. If Person A cannot back up the claim and Person B not only debunks the claim, but has receipts, it should end there. But no, this is still going even AFTER ya'll sat there and basically agreed that you didn't know JD was from Atlanta until you read about it, saw interviews, or really couldn't recall when you found out, but CONTINUED to argue that a man you DIDN'T KNOW was from Atlanta, put the city on and was the face of the city.

And what's crazy you used a similar argument to debate about knowing Mary J. Blige was from NYC by posting a picture of her rocking a NYC jersey. It was compared to SWV wearing random jerseys. Come on.
