US prison labor is used in the supply chain of major retailers. Basically modern slavery.

Or, it just needs to be further regulated.

Require companies that use prison labor for cons serving x time to hire prisonee when they are released.

If a prison gets a contract for labor then there should be a cap and or they should be barred from contributing to campaigns

Make it illegal for politicians to make decisions that benefit companies that use prison labor and lobby politicians

More visibility to see what companies are donating to politicians

Limit how much money a corporation thats uses prison labor can make

Watchdog groups. People can make careers riding some corporations ass.

There's ways.
All those things you are asking for require a massive amount of legislation to setup… it’s would be quicker to get legislation/executive order to ban prison labor than to fight for all these regulations that probably won’t pass.

You are require legislation for extra oversight on large corporations and also extra scrutiny for politicians? lol … do you even follow politics?

A packaged bill that opposes multiple strongly backed groups…

Corporations
Prisons
DC politicians who benefit
Local politicians who benefit
Local law enforcement officials who benefit

You would rather try to fight for years for regulation meanwhile prison labor continues indefinitely during the process.

Vs a solution banning it that is more likely to pass through executive order.

You really don’t follow politics

Requires an act of congress either way so it may as well be done correctly

The Truth
I thought most of this was common knowledge?

And I think because they “pay” the workers like 25 cents a day or some shyt, they do not count it as slave labor

I really hope this isn't new news for people. :francis:
Agreed. It’s literally in the text of the 13th Amendment smh, in no uncertain language

Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Hot take: I think these criminals and prisoners should be out fixing communities, cleaning up neighborhoods, repairing homes, repairing bridges, etc

If they want. For the exact same amount of pay you would pay someone who's not a prisoner.

Anything less is slavery.

Slavery is bad.

It should not be a punishment for anything. The punishment for crimes should be loss of liberty, and nothing more
