If prison labor is seen as valuable...Is that how you feel about people who have victimized your loved ones to the point they get put in a cage?
You must have lived a very carefree life so far.
A man gets 10 years for raping your family member
"Aww shucks they shouldn't be exploiting his labor"
"You shot my sister, can i put some money on your books?"
What planet are you living on
Looks like the incentive to not have this happen is to not be a criminal
A few percent, sure. That’s not enough for me to care about home invaders and armed robbers who might have to do some grunt work as part of their sentence.Like american cops and lawyers dont frame and railroad innocent people en masse??? so everyone is guilty huh???

there is an incentive to provide the workforce....
ie. that DA gonna have extra pressure because the mayor's bid for his next election is being helped by the tax dollars from a corporation thats helping clean up the city/provide servcices (a topic he can run on) that same corporation would be donating to his campaign too... that corporation is also benefitting from the prison labor...now back to the DA..... I understand the moral/emotional principle you are speaking from...
but dealing with "society" you have to understand the mechanisms that lead to corruption....
prison labor is an incentive for corruption.... it needs to be done away with
