This is patently false. I mean, I can appreciate you saying people don’t know about his feats and backstory…but to say he wasn’t known at all is not true.

That link has all his non comic appearances before the movies. I wouldn’t expect a non physicist to know about Hawkings’ papers but I bet they know what black holes are.

These characters were not limited to comics alone. They are pop culture icons. Stop this narrative. It’s like not everyone watches the NBA or plays basketball but I bet they’ve at least heard of Michael Jordan

lets be real. thats mostly cameos and two tv shows. one on bet {that barely anyone saw) and one on disney xd(which was a channel that very few people had)

prior to the movie there were a bunch of people that thought he was created as some sort of tribute to the black panther party. hes definetly blown up MAJORLY since the movies have come out, but you werent seeing random kids being black panther for halloween like you would any of the avengers not named the wasp or ant man prior to their movies.

Manga(if anything) is more “riske”. The Japanese market has always been wilder than American sensibilities and not for kids. The American comic market and super hero movies have always been for kids. Comic books have always been for kids. The camp nature of the live action material(DC Batman shows in particular), have historically, always been aimed towards kids. The fox marvel cartoon block was aimed at kids. As were their toys built by bendai and mattell. Adults were included, as marvel became darker and started basing their storyline alongside real life world events. But that wasn’t meant to cede total aim towards an adult audience. Kids should always be in mind when making these movies.
And those kids grew up and the few who continued to read superhero comics became the bulk consumer. They make all ages titles to try to hook kids but the key demographic for the main titles are adults. To be totally honest, the adults are the reason why they always have the illusion of change and always revert back to the status quo

IRON MQYBE BUT ONLY CAUSE OF THE SHOW U HAD TO GET UP AT 6AM FOR
:mjlol: What’s funny is that in the 90s when Marvel created a bunch of animated tv shows. Nobody cared/watched that Iron Man show it got cancelled because of low ratings. Kids only cared about X-men and Spider-Man the animated series.

Kids can’t attend movies by themselves unless they’re teenaged. Adults will ultimately control who can attend, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the material should be ceded to adult sensibilities. It’s selfish, if a grown adult doesn’t wanna take their kid to see a marvel film, because the grown up is mad at the direction the film went in. At some point, you gotta let the kids “grow up with” the same stuff you grew up with.

I don't think any parent is doing that if they are into comics. I'm sure most western comic readers want to get their kids into reading western comics over manga

A lot of talking in here but essentially Marvel is making movies for characters no one gives a fukk about except hardcore comic fans. Captain Marvel is not a fukking draw. Shang Chi, Morbius :mjlol:

Like the formula was make movies with your big hitters. Fill in the rest with some lesser knowns. Making this shyt difficult for no reason.
IMO They're going for characters without alot of publication history so they can make changes that will attract casuals. The less Canon characters have the less there is for fan boys to nitpick
