Crazy how people try an claim Thor is an unknown when he is basically a 1 to 1 copy of the norse mythology. Like saying Zeus was an unknown before Wonder Woman came out :mjlol:
Anybody with a highschool education knows who Thor is. They may not know any comic storylines, but they will be pretty familiar with what to expect as far as powers and theme. ie: Hammer, Lightening, frost giants, trickster gods etc
We didn’t cover Norse mythology at all in my high school

Just simply not true in my experience. There are still Norse people today who name their kids Thorleif and Loki type names. Plus people have always had a fascination with Viking culture and movies set in those mythos. Beowulf and Grendel for example is a classic tale remade every generation. Multiple characters named after Thor is that story. thor is just as well known as hercules
Greek mythology was way more popular until the MCU Thor movie. I took a mythology elective on High School and Greek was 90% of it. Even as a little kid in the 90s who was into mythology it was hard to come across much Norse that wasn't related to Marvel Thor. Greek was easily found in books, documentaries, TV shows, and movies

Been spamming this thread but I think the best way to sort out their movies woes is filter out what they can control vs. what they cant:

Factors out of Disneys control that led to the Marvels flopping:

1. The SAG strike-Yes, in no way, shape, or form is a Bree Larson Late night appearance going to make up 60 Million dollars, but lack of marketing and not being able to promote the film hurt on some level.

2. Red Pillology-Better projects than this movie have been on the receiving end of racist/sexist based criticism. One of these fukk heads really made a video criticizing Across the Spider Verse as "woke garbage" and got murdered in his own comment section. You cant win with them.

3. COVID-The virus changed the film industry as we know it. It has to be an event to get butts in seats, people are more comfortable being home now.

Factors that Disney can control

1. Superhero fatigue-Disney let success go to their heads and spammed the streets with bad dope. Self explanatory.

2. Lack of true creativity-Loki and WandaVision were high level concepts first. The hook of "What if a Pre Ragnarok Loki had to actually own up to his fukkery?" + introduction to the multiverse made Loki intriguing and weird (but in a good way). Wandavision was a love letter to the history of sitcoms that made us feel the Scarlet Witchs sorrow at losing her family.

The concepts themselves sold these projects not just the promise of MOAR CONTENT. Marvel has to understand that post Endgame, people want to see the Superhero genre implemented in more creative ways. DC is realizing this as "The Batman" and "Joker" were other Film concepts with Batman and Joker pasted into them. Its not a bad thing to do.

...I personally think even the problem of unknown characters and unlikeable characters fixes itself if the concept is intriguing.

:mjlol:How many parents back then could’ve named Marvel characters outside of the Spider-Mans, Hulks, and Wolverine/X-mens. So you telling me before the mcu your parents were name dropping Iron Man and The Black Panther lol. Most of the mainstream knew more DC characters than Marvel characters. Hell more people knew about Pikachu than fukking Iron Man. Before the mcu them characters wasn’t as known if you wasn’t in the know.
Parents? I was the one name dropping em!

That aint why it tanked.

Thor 4 was complete trash and yet STILL a hit.

Their biggest mistake was making Captain Marvel a DYKE and then removing the men.

If you want women to show up to you need some sort of male/female love story and a prominent attractive male character.

Even women aren't interested in seeing a bunch of DYKES on screen especially in a superhero flick :pachaha:. They can't relate to that and certainly do not want to pay to see a bunch of dykes and no men (most women are stingy and selective with their money:laugh:). The same way us men can't relate to fakkits and don't want to pay to see bussy activities :dame:on screen.

That barbie movie had Ryan Gosling face EVERYWHERE and they highlighted the romance element .

The first Wonder Woman movie had Chris Pine's face EVERYWHERE and highlighted the romance element.

They were hits.

Aint NOBODY trying to give their hard earned money to watch a bunch of dykes and fakkits :yeshrug:
Brie Larson didn't go down on nobody at least from what I saw.

And I've shipped a rack of lesbian tv relationships over the years including Willow and Kennedy on Buffy. @Hostile @MidniteJay @PharaohAtem

There was clearly a lot of bad decisions 😕 made about this movie but I'm not sure if I support your argument 🤔 :usure:

Marvel fvcking nerds will say literally anything. “Men are refusing to support women:angry:

If a movie is ‘fun’ then sure if that’s what it is at best, like any other movie i’ll have ‘fun’ streaming in it eventually

Try to draw me back in, word to Loki

It wasn't a bad movie and I really didn't notice any bad "girl boss" moments. Kamala seemed way too young and naive to be a teen though. Monica being mad at Carol wasn't that weird when you get a little background.

The mid credits scene sets up some next level shyt :whoo:

I give it a 6/10, mainly cause the villain just seemed so random and disconnected

She replaced the Lee pace character from the first guardians, if they had kept his character around, it would have made more sense. Marvel effed up, because if you have to go back to the first Guardian movie for anything you effed up.

That would've been way better at forming a connection to the first movie
