I'm not going to put too much stock in having a Masters(and I value education). I might get one someday if a company is willing to pay for it but as of right now I don't see it helping me too much in my field. That time and money would be better used on training and certs.

:mjlol: Nikkas wont like this butttttttt

Most dudes are not driving no damn truck or welding some steel- making 100k. thats a fukkin lie.
Im not saying they couldn't Im saying alot nikkas Ive seen do not have the patience to complete courses and shyt like that in comparison to bw.

In my professional career ive encountered way more bw earning more than their partner, bf, hookup buddy and basically the head of their household.
So either nikkas lying to themselves or something..... but there is definitely a disconnect.

outside IT and engineering maybe finance bw running laps around bm:yeshrug:

I cant speak for other countries but in the US there is definitely some type of push to make it extremely difficult for black boys/men in particular to earn a respectable salary especially in comparison to their black women counterparts.

you just gott approach everything already knowing this and move accordingly

you gotta treat this shyt like chess and think a few moves ahead of these CACs, do the research on how to get ahead otherwise u will be out here lookin stupid as hell by the time u 25-30 and beyond. Facts

Theres a lot of truth to this but there are a lot of black women with degrees/advanced degrees and a lot of debt but jobs thats either under paying them or no job at all cause they got a useless degree

Isn't the downplaying of education in this very thread a part of the problem?

Why are ethnic groups who value education doing so much better than those who don't?

Certification is like voting. If you don't use it properly, then it's a waste and can become worthless.

In America or elsewhere? The answer is determined by the location.

I honestly don't know any people who went to college and didn't make use of their degree...even if they were not doing exactly what they majored in, their degree opened doors for them that they couldn't have gotten through without it. Not saying people don't waste degrees, but I think it's exaggerated.

In America.

Black men still out-earn black women on the whole, though it is interesting that it flips when you look at advanced degrees :jbhmm:

The ratio of Black women vs men in the building I'm in is grossly disproportionate. Beyond that even with the meetings I attend and conference calls, there's a noticeable lack of Black men vs women. I meet more Black women than men in my dealings, and even just going to lunch on my work days I see more Black women than men.

I don't think it's just my eyesight either considering statistics.

Black Women Awarded More Master’s Degrees Than Black Men | Thurgood Marshall College Fund

Black women are being awarded Master’s degrees at a significantly higher proportion than Black men at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), a 1990-2015 National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) shows.

In the 2015 academic year, the most recent data available, 3,869 master’s degrees were awarded to Black women compared to 1,545 Master’s awarded to Black Men, a ratio of approximately 5 to 2.

In the same academic year, 141,358 Black women were enrolled at HBCUs compared to 86,905 Black males, a ratio over 2 to 1.

Black women also earn doctorates at a higher proportion at HBCUs. In 2015, women were awarded 1,084 such degrees whereas Black men earned were awarded 492. A ratio very close to 2 to 1.

Brehs, this is a problem.
What are those subjects in? Black people overall major in broke ass majors (Elementary Education, social work, Communication, Gender Studies, Black Studies). Corporate America is extremely hostile against straight Black men. Black women notoriously get made up positions that have no power like Chief Diversity Officer.

Y'all also know they count certificates from community college like CNA in the educated category???

Also anyone who registers a LLC is counted as an entrepreneur. Majority of businesses women register are for selling weaves or hair salons.

Brehs, this is a problem.
Dumb thread. It's easier for women to advance in the workplace period. Only thing women lag behind in is ownership (CEOs, executives etc.).
