@BobbyWojak I just went back and looked at the fight sequence cuz like I said I didn't rewatch it and I'm not gonna completely jump off the cliff for my opinion, I see what yall saying as far as him fall back to the cage and reeling Alex in

But he was EXTREMELY close to getting that same work he did in that first fight imo :hubie: that right hand misses and he's outta here

Wild how much more aggressive he is here against Alex who is way more dangerous than Strickland, no idea what's up with the guy

Izzy would retreat and shell up against the cage with Sean too, but he didn't lose control like Pereira. He knocked out Costa, Whitaker, Pereira and others with the same hook combo; I saw it three times in this fight, it just didn't land.

That don’t make sense better he got caught in that 1st round then in then 2nd round he won that round by being the aggressor, stayed in the middle of the ring and stayed active. If he fights like that for 2 more rounds he keeps his belt. That 3rd round he was coasting until he got caught late and lost the round.
Exactly

Like in bball when ppl use the phrase so-n-so is a great 3-level scorer (outside, middy, & at the rim), ultimately Izzy is a very good to great 2-level fighter.

He often has the outside advantage with the reach and kicks, but the opps have no fear of take-downs, wrestling, submissions or in some cases his strength in the clinch, so it inevitably becomes a purely striking contest in the middy… in which Izzy has very good but not all-time power and “good” (for MMA) but not great boxing technique.

Got a lot of flare but if he can’t win the middy-war, he can look dead in the water, esp as he gets older/loses his natural quickness.

Agreed. I definitely said the same about Costa/Whittaker, iirc those happened around the center of the octagon tho and he was being more aggressive, was expecting Sean to get that same work

Ended up watching Alex vs Strickland just now too :mjlol: what a weird triangle of wins and losses between these guys, shyt doesn't make sense

Maga Colby will take the belt off Edwards :francis:
Nobody's taking a bigger L than the Mexican fighters this year though, they shyt the bed after UFC tried to promote them. Aldana got outclassed by Nunes in her title fight, Moreno lost his belt to Pantoja, Yair Rodriguez got his ass beat by Volkanovski and got his interim belt taken, That ugly dude Raul Rosas, they were trying to hype up got humbled, And Grasso probably about to eat an L this Saturday and lose her belt on Mexican Independence Day.

In another life if I was to train MMA def boxing/wrestling is the best combo. most explosive by far.

IDK i'm just dissapointed lol. if we all know exactly what Strickland is gonna do, how don't they, and how don't they come up with a better gameplan than what they did tonight. Izzy really got on his bike against a defensive minded pressure fighter with no kick or takedown threat in a squared up Philly. this is lunacy
Yep. Definitely those two.

I'd even wager that an MMA Fighter that is a great boxer and "just" good wrestler would probably run the sport.

I mean, it's rare to even find a MMA kat that has even decent head movement. Some of the greatest UFC KOs have come from dudes literally walking into telegraphed punches:mjlol:

Just watched it now, good performance by Strickland, his pressure, shot selection and defence was all on point.
No excuses should be made for Izzy he straight up got beaten. What happened to this new Izzy that was supposed to emerge after beating Pereira :francis:
