This fight is a prime example of why I don't take "I'd rather watch UFC because boxing is boring" nikkas serious but wasn't always able to articulate why

MMA nikkas get downloaded and deconstructed so frequently because there are SO many gimmicks and gaps in nikkas styles.

UFC is entertaining but the lack of polish is deafening at times

I love both but the frequency is due to the amount of times UFC fighters put it on the line compared to the average main event boxers

In a way that is the beauty of it. MMA has so many variables and most guys only dedicated themselves to one or two arts before getting into the sport.

He didn't expect to be hurt that 1st round, I think his chin might be compromised, he's coming off a rough trilogy.

That don’t make sense better he got caught in that 1st round then in then 2nd round he won that round by being the aggressor, stayed in the middle of the ring and stayed active. If he fights like that for 2 more rounds he keeps his belt. That 3rd round he was coasting until he got caught late and lost the round.

Boxers and wrestlers wreck shyt in UFC but nikkas priorities haven't adjusted to reflect that

Coincidentally I halfway understand because boxing and wrestling are burdened with inhuman levels of conditioning and trainers probably feel like it would take from the overall package but again we see how boxers and wrestlers do everybody else ironic that they mentioned Holly Holm tonight too

In another life if I was to train MMA def boxing/wrestling is the best combo. most explosive by far.

IDK i'm just dissapointed lol. if we all know exactly what Strickland is gonna do, how don't they, and how don't they come up with a better gameplan than what they did tonight. Izzy really got on his bike against a defensive minded pressure fighter with no kick or takedown threat in a squared up Philly. this is lunacy

Beloved Sean wasn't being bold if you've watched him fight before thats literally how he fights against everyone, all the time. He plods forward, and jabs their head off. Izzy was spooked to get in the pocket or trade with him though. Pereira isn't and flatlined him in one

Sean wasn't plodding forward, he was pressuring and cutting him off. Israel has had enough fights that no one should be saying he's 'scared' he was looking for a counter and Sean fought smart, that's it.

I may re watch but IMO He was plodding. any decent boxer (since essentially he was just boxing) would dance circles around him footwork wise. They also would probably just stand in front of him too because hes not exactly the fastest puncher anyway.

I wasn't even using them as a combination, only saying that either of those foundations has been a difference maker a month the greatest

Khabib for example didn't have good striking, but his wrestling skill was so high nikkas couldn't do shyt to him

Anderson is great but he’s an idiot too. That first fight against wiedman, Anderson never took him serious and had the most embarrassing KO in combat sports and the was the end for him.

Anderson was 38 when he lost to Weidman (who was in his prime), and over 40 when he came back from breaking his leg in the second fight. Father Time took him out, like it does to everybody eventually.

Nobody was KOing him or piecing him up to a decision win in his prime.

He needed to touch Sean regardless, since he's the champ they might have given it to him. But fighting like he did in 2nd would still have it be close.

watching boxing consistently over the last few weeks, i can see why a boxer wouldn't pay any attention to a MMA guy, they'd get lit the fukk up unless they had godlike leg kicks ready to go all round
