The problem is getting to Pereira's back. Alex respected Izzy's striking enough that the avenue opened up. The 1st time Vettori or Costa shoot, they're eating a knee and playing hide and seek with consciousness.

Izzy had the fight tho, boy exposed himself and either got to cute with in his own style or literally Alex was in his head. Maybe a mixture of both. Yeah I like Izzy but let’s be honest anyone bigger than him beats him cause he can’t handle power and Jones would have crushed him. I would like to see Usman go up in weight and try to fight Alex now since he thinks he can fight at 205.

One thing I took away from last night is that Izzy should thank whatever higher power he believes in that the Jon Jones fight never materialized. Jan and Pereira seem like they have enough respect to leave the trash talk for the pre-fight hype. Jon on the other hand is a pure a##hole. He would have smashed Izzy’s skull and then dedicated the rest of his life to s#itting on that man’s name whenever possible.

He fought like he always fights mostly except for the grappling in round 3
Izzy is a conservative fighter who never does more than he needs to to get the win
But Alex has that eraser. He's got the pop to make the scorecards go away and eventually he landed one and Izzy seemed like he had no idea how to survive. Clinch, take down attempts, throwing back punches, etc. He didn't try anything

because he could've ended if he took the time to add any kind of real finishing skills on the ground, like others have said he's been in the UFC for 3 years...

Pereira couldn't do shyt down there and Izzy didn't know how to finish him, that's gonna haunt him.

Outside of the end of the 1st round, Izzy didn't really put him in the danger zone with his striking, just isn't strong enough, he can't just expect everyone to let him dash around and play the point game, SOMEONE is gonna know how to cut off the cage and have enough reach to hit him. Gotta have other ways to win
