I don't see manufacturing jobs coming back to the US the way they think. In the infinite chase of more profits companies always look to see where they can cut costs and that always happens to be the greedy Americans wanting decent wages, benefits, insurance, and all those regulations.
I am shifting out of supply chain, but this is absolutely true. Manufacturing will come back, but prices will go up, and much of the Manufacturing won't translate into jobs. It will be automated. Not to mention it will take minimum 5 years for the plants to actually get made.

To me I don't think they get made. Trump is a 1 term president and the building materials have to be imported or they will cost more. Some companies will get tariff waivers but not enough to compensate for a whole industry.

The way I see it its more like America gets the guillotines out than they go back to a manufacturing economy.

Exactly. shyt is the border wall all over again.

Next Democratic President will have to clean it up and put us back in free trade territory to tighten the ship because it’s the most efficient way to move in modern times.

This is the same Republican play but different form: yet another pump and dump, get rich quick money grab.

It's slowly been happening without Trump's input. Once it became apparent in covid, we had so many things that we couldn't flux to meet the demand as well the numerous geopolitical conflicts starting to pop up, many companies are slowly but surely shifting things back to the US. The US has traditionally been an isolationist country, we're cycling back to that. Trump is just going to accelerate it.

Putting tariffs on Canada and Mexico; our 2 other biggest trading partners seems like pure stupidity until you realize it's not all a money play, it's about market dominance. What you're going to find in the coming years, pure profit is not going to be the primary motivator. Industrial and political dominance will be. There's a reason clear monopolies like some of these tech companies have become weren't broken up; because we would be ceding power to Chinese companies who essentially have the economic might of their country funding them.

Europe is probably next since they have high tariffs on US goods. While the US doesn't have any on them. You either playball or get your economy wrecked.
:yeshrug:
Cause where else you gonna sell your shyt but in the US?

Just the threat of tariffs is an enough of a deterrent for these countries to get in line.

Biden kept some of the Trump tariffs from the 1st time.

I hope you're right, but I've learned to not underestimate the docility, cruelty and stupidity of white Americans. 74 Million people didn't want this, but 76 million did. The majority in the country didn't care enough to vote. Those people may be the ones who upon finding out what some of their fellow citizens did, might be furious and want to tear this shyt down.

This man has essentially declared a world trade war. I don't know how this will work unless he's expecting CEOs from around the world to come to him and kiss his ring and beg for an exception. This is purely about flexing on others and forcing them to give America preferential treatment.

But if they refuse, if the world just decides to write new trade deals to stabilize prices, and put America second or third, what's the rebuttal? is he going to blame them and then declare *ACTUAL* war saying it's a global conspiracy to economically sabotage the US, despite the fact that he's the moron who put in the tariffs that triggered this? I think the American public has been dumbed down enough that they'd actually believe that retarded shyt because they themselves are every bit as stupid as him.

White america is aging and shrinking. This is them giving into a collective delusion, and they seem willing to completely crash out to protect their precious illusory social status.

These countries have been making money hand over fist off the US market but offering nothing in return.

The gravy train might finally be over for them. Because China isn't letting them sell goods in their country either. The US has all the leverage.

He won the popular vote. He's popular. He's only hated by liberals but nobody cares about them.

He'll be able to blame Biden for the first year. If it drags on, Independents will eventually shift the blame to him. I expect Republicans to ride or die with him no matter what.

His approval rating is 44 %. Any decline in popularity (which will happen if he fukks up the economy with tariffs) and the GOP is likely in trouble.

A lot of Trump supporters don't vote when Trump isn't on the ballot to begin with

Lets see where things stand when Trump says the US aren't supporting Ukraine anymore and starts making those concessions to Russia for peace.

You reasoning sounds like the president of Poland’s reasoning, and the polish are not known for their smarts. Your looking at Trump like he is known for rewarding his friends and sticking to his words. When historically he consistently leaves people out to dry and makes decisions based on who spoke to him last.

A shyt storm is coming and kissing Trumps ass isn't going to stop the shyt from flowing.
You don't understand european dynamics.

Polish ain't trusting Germans for shyt...
