You do know there was and always been military alliances right? World Wars 1 &2 was started by miltary alliances that didn’t include america.

The one thing I’d grant you is that based on the performance of the Russian Army The european armies don’t need NATO to defeat Russia.

You do realize that coalition warfare has been the name of the game for 150 years.

No way the US is going to war unilaterally

The days of 500 people dying in a single battle are over.

Finally you don’t need NATO just let everyone including the Uke’s get nukes. Think massive proliferation won’t get someone to press the button?

You think if Zelensky still had the bomb that he wouldn’t have used it by now?

Couldve saved the US several hundred billion or started nuclear armagodon

No one is giving Ukies nukes.

You cats are just posting fantasies at this point.

I'm done.

He doesn't want to replicate the cheap labour. He wants to make foreign goods so expensive, that the competitive advantage of cheaper labour is nullified. His plan is basically an Import Substitution Industrialization scheme for the US. Again, I'm not saying it's going to work. I'm just telling you what his thinking is.

Can’t work. The reason why the cheap labor in cheap countries work is because of the conversion rate of the U.S. Dollar…if America gets back into manufacturing big time, how many countries can afford to have goods imported from the U.S. based on the U.S. Dollar?

We are talking about taxing money that flows from the US to Mexico from Mexican nationals

Trump threatened tariffs and implemented "Remain in Mexico" in 2019 which Biden reversed in 2021. Cheaper and more effective than a wall
Why can’t Mexico just Tax the shyt out of the profits that McDonald’s makes in Mexico?

as far as your second thing first of all you’d have to acknowledge the wall was a mistake secondly you’d have to acknowledge that Biden continued a good idea despite it not being aligned with his political beliefs

Thirldly you’d need buy in from Mexico at the end of the day either you have to declare victory whether what you wanted to happen happened or not or go balls to to wall in a war you could lose.

Why can’t Trump press the Venezuelans in the same way? because they ain’t a democracy. Trump has a “democracy"

Trump can’t press dictators which is why he always sucks up to them.

Additionally even Democracies can produce a Trump and we’ll see you folds first.

Our diversity is our strength and our weakness all those mexican voters who voted for him twice will think differently if he really presses Mexico.

If Mexico detained US citizens there’s no american voters that will punish them.

Stellantis Mulls Pivoting Away from Mexico Under Threat of Trump Tariffs

Are you just debating or do you thnk Trump is right?

You said that you didn’t even vote for him.

there’s a bunch of threads on here when there should be a poll that says who believes Trump is doing the right thing and three years from now His popularity will be high

I’ll say I suspect that he’ll have Hakeem Jeffies as speaker in two years at the least in not Shumer back in there as majority leader and all the Democrats have to do is ignore Black people and run a white guy and he will win.

They had nukes before they gave them up.

Do you think they aren’t gonna pursue nukes now?

No one gave North Korea Nukes but they have them. They’re working on rocket technology to deliver them to the states.

No one gave South Africa Nukes but they had them.

At this point it seems to be a belief and talking in circles

Do you believe that Trump is inherently right or not?

I don't believe in one sided trade deals no matter which party is doing it. Democrats pushed a ton of bad trade deals that hollowed out the middle class. Those working class voters aren't going back to them. That ship done sailed.

Once again that plan could work if he was being selective regarding sectors and there was a developed industry locally to take its place BUT these are across the board tariff gains against NAFTA and China which literally goes against the foundation of our modern consumer/service economy.

I think you can square peg in a round hole use this to justify what he is doing but unemployment is 4.1% and people are complaining about inflation. None of these actions match what the voters said they wanted.

What it does match is what his billionaire supporters want because this will force Americans to pay even more for the same items they could get cheaper now increasing company earnings.
Yes, ISI in Latin America meant that oligarchs were able to sell overpriced crap to the local population, because there was no foreign competition. Fitting, since Trump essentially plans to turn the US into a banana republic.

I never said it would work. I just said this is what he is thinking. But then again, Musk and his Tech friends want to crash the US dollar so :manny:

That's already what NATO is.

NATO is a US creation, don't get fooled by the democratic/multilateral talk. The US rules NATO and always did.

If you take the US out, there is no NATO left. NATO is the US.
No. There are countries not behaving, e.g. Turkey and others which are free riders, e.g. Germany. But the US tolerates that behavior because of strategic interests. Trump plans to turn NATO into his personal protection racket.
