My list wasn't a longevity thing, nor a peak thing, nor a "who has the most awards" thing. It's all of those things combined, strictly about who was the best players...

Steve McNair is nowhere close to one of the 15 best since '00. Not even close...

Cam and McNabb really aren't that close, either...

Ryan is close though, he was more consistently good than any of the above three guys, for a longer period of time. His peak was higher than all three guys...

But he'd be the first guy out, in my Top 15. I think Luck and Rivers were better players, lack of Super Bowls and awards be damned...

It's why Josh Allen is #7 to me. He's clearly better than almost everybody else, the lack of awards or Super Bowls isn't a negative here...
I dont know man. They gotta count for something. An All Pro, Mvp, or Superbowl appearance. Give me one at least.

@premier58 @FTBS Would your Top 15 since 2000 list, more align with mine, or First Things First's list?
Your list is wayy more accurate than theirs. Im a big McNabb, so I feel tha maybe he should be included, but history hasnt been kind to him. For a mulritude of reasons, being.traded on division, being underwhelming in Washington and Minnesota, TO fans that blame him for the drama, ppl not using eras to extrapolate stats, properly, ppl loving Vick more etc...

@murksiderock Your 16-25 is too partial to the modern era. Eli, Goff nor Hurts, nor Cam, nor Herbert deserve to be over McNabb. I can argue that Luck doesnt, either. Too biased toward those who started in the pinball era than the old school era

They omitted Brett Favre, who yes, he peaked in the 90s, but he played the majority of his career in the 00s and he was really, really good in the 00s. There's no way you omit Favre...

They lowballed Lamar and Allen both, and committed Burrow. Look, Lamar is flat out better than the best version of Warner I ever saw (which incidentally was '99 so that season shouldn't be eligible for this list; but '99 Warner is an inferior player to what I just saw from '24 Lamar)...

They lowballed Allen because he doesn't have a ring, MVP, or Super Bowl run. His peak isn't quite as high as Peak Warner, but he's more consistent elite than Warner, who had 3 great years, like 6 consecutive years of mid, then 2 great years at the end. He belongs over Warner, and he's better than anything I ever saw from Stafford or Ben...
Favre mixed too many terrible and mid seasons in the 00’s. His longevity is overrated.

He also tanked several teams that shoulda made it to the sb

Well he never won an mvp, never was all pro, so it comes down to how much do you weigh losing NFC title games during what I believe to be a down era of that conference.

The one year he did make the SB, that nfc conference was one of the worst in NFL history.

Youre providing context about the conference, but not the accolades. In 2004, McNabb had an MVP worthy year, it just happened to occur during a season where Manning and Culpepper had ATG seasons. In most years, McNabb's 2004 season would win it. McNabb had an amazing 02, but broke his ankle. Maybe he wins the MVP, that season. In 2000, he was a one man wrecking crew. The NFC may have been weak, but he was losing to elite teams. 01 Rams were dominant, 02 Bucs had a dominant defense and Brad.Johnson had the most efficient season of his career. Now Carolina certainly was a game they shouldve won. At least he broke through and made a Superbowl and he lost to the best Patriots team of all time

You can say that about a lot of QBs who didn’t win MVP. Russell, Rivers, Ben etc

The only elite Teams he lost in the NFC playoffs are were the 2001 Rams and the 2002 Bucs.

Now that I think about it, what’s the best team Donovan ever beat in the playoffs… the 2003 Packers?

Yeah yoi can, its still.an achievement. But McNabb dealt with the most efficient season for a QB, ever in what Manning did in 2004. You saying he lost NFC title games, alot. Well Romo and Prescott cant even make one. Philip Rivers made 1 his entire career. Lamar has made one, Josh Allen has made two. McNabb made 5!!

I would say the 2008 NYH. But with Plax out, thats a little dicey. He beat some excellent defenses in the playoffs. 2000 Bucs, 2001 Bucs, 2002 Bears.

Yeah they were elite through 10 or so games then collapsed.

It would be like baker Stan’s bragging about beating the collapsing 2023 eagles

Yeah but they played in tougher conferences under what we now know to be with a worse HC.

Warren Moon never even made a conference title game!! Marino made 3, his entire career! Luck made one in his 7 year career. Its not as easy as it seems. Dan Fouts, I believe, only made one. Cunningham was the ultimate weapon, backed with a loaded defens, and couldnt make one in Philly. Just one time as an old man in Minnesota. McNair, the ultimare warrior at QB, only made two conference championship games for his career.
