the funniest part of this thread is learning that a dude old enough to see Predator in the theatre has dedicated his life to stanning MCU content on an anonymous internet forum :mjlol:
Even worse is thinking about him in the middle of the nite. :umad:

This is a pointless discussion.

People's answers and opinions will be biased and based on what movies they grew up watching.

Gen Z and Gen Alpha would laugh at movies like Predator and T2 and tell you the MCU are best movies.

While Millennials and Gen X who grew up with T2 and Predator would say the opposite.
There’s something to this as well. We like to pretend these arguments are “objective” which is total bullshyt. It’s based on a lot of things and like you said, age and generation are big factors. And divorcing yourself from nostalgia is very very hard. Along with the context of when and where you saw something and how

Maybe among just casual folks that aren't really into movies like that. But anyone with even a basic knowledge of filmmaking is going to spot a difference between T2 and any given MCU movie.

I saw t2 in theaters
I saw infinity war + endgame in theaters

Nothing compares to Infinity War + endgame. The theater experience was once in a lifetime kind of thing, ill never forget it

i wouldn't say that.. though.. i can appreciate that most music for example was better before my time and i can say that because i'm viewing the way in which the music was made vs. a severe lacc in effort that i see today.
But that’s your opinion on it. The problem with this site is so many cats want this shyt to be science and math. So yes for me I believe rock and hip hop was better in certain eras. But that’s because it’s more to my taste. A kid growing up on some shyt now may have a completely different taste and set of rules because shyt changes and evolves over time.

So if that young kid rather hear future than Black Thought, I’m not mad at it. I get it. Just like I’d rather listen to black thought than Melle Mel. And that’s no diss to Mel, just the game changed and thought is more my speed.

Nah only simple minded people view things that way. Nostalgia is real but anyone who is really into movies/hip-hop/music won't have biases depending on their own upbringing. They'll outgrow that.

I guess everyone is simple minded then. Everybody has biases and with discussions like they are formulated from what people grew up with.

Since MCU films are episodic or serialized (not sure which categorizes them more accurately) you can’t really compare T2 or Predator since both are self contained movies that don’t require you to watch other movies to know what’s going on. Yes, T2 is a sequel, but you can go into it not knowing anything about the characters or backstories and still be entertained.

I don’t think you can say that about the MCU. Part of the fun of the MCU movies and shows is how connected they are (when it’s convenient) and the payoff moments after investing hours and days into watching them all.

MCU films are like the No Limit of movies, wildly popular, formulaic, all of them use actors interchangeably, they all advertise for coming products and they’re both led by a mastermind that keeps product pumping like an assembly line.

I enjoy MCU shows and movies, but to say they’re better or equivalent to movies that advanced the art form and inspired them is nonsense. That’s like saying Master P is up there with 2Pac lyrically.
