Age and generation will always dictate our opinions.
That's one of the primary reasons why people abhor remakes of movies they grew up watching.
They could make a remake of Training Day which copies everything about the original and even has higher production values.
But if a person grew up watching the original Training Day and grew up watching Denzel they are not going to be fair to the remake even if it is a technically better made movie.
While someone who grows up watching the remake will of course have a different opinion.
