I was old enough to see both in theaters. T2 was a huge summer blockbuster everyone couldn't wait to see and it delivered. Predator was just a run of the mill action movie that came and went it was not revered at the time as anything special.
Nah, definitely not true.

I damn near stayed in the theaters around that time. It was talked about. You know what else was talked about? Robocop. It came out right after

87 was a STRONG film year. 91 was good too

Hmm . . . looking at imdb Predator made $12 million opening weekend, $59 million in the U.S. and $98 worldwide. Compare that to T2 which did $31 million opening weekend, $205 U.S. and $520 worldwide.
T2 was just a way bigger, more talked about and beloved movie then. If Predator has gotten some huge cult following since I was unaware.

You lost the plot of the thread..

You're comparing the box office of Predator to T2?

We're talking about those classic movies vs MCU releases

That's no different than 'Vanilla Ice is the greatest rapper cause he sold 10 million albums'

You solely base a movie over box office?

So Robocop, Lethal Weapon, Full Metal Jacket, etc.. These are not classic films because it didn't make as much as T2?

I am questioning Predator's 'classic' status. Compared to T2 it didn't hit like that. And compared to all those movies you mentioned I don't think it as revered by general audiences. Full Metal Jacket isn't even an action movie. That's a weird inclusion by you as well.
