They're wack amusement park ride movies with no real artistic value. Comparing them to legitimately great action films is laughable. T2, Predator, Matrix, Fury Road...those are films with actual cinematic vision. Real action. Not just guys standing around next to a green screen.

Granted I'm a comicbook movie hater so I'm biased lmao.

T2 basically set the template that a lot of these mcu films build upon, and most not well. It's not even that T2 is incredibly deep plotwise, but the way its shot, the way its action scenes are staged, the music, the way it builds tension. It's a masterwork of an action film. The only action piece in the MCU that even comes near close to the mall chase, and the skynet infiltration sequences is the highway fight in winter soldier.

I am questioning Predator's 'classic' status. Compared to T2 it didn't hit like that. And compared to all those movies you mentioned I don't think it as revered by general audiences. Full Metal Jacket isn't even an action movie. That's a weird inclusion by you as well.

I disagree. Everyone loved Predator as well. If anything, compare it to Terminator. Predator was huge even moreso, once it hit cable. I'd say it's Commando that's not on the level of the others. It's weird though. You can do the same with Running Man & Total Recall in real-time. People liked Running Man (I think most were expecting Predator-esque, but people loved Total Recall.

Terminator 2 is an all-time classic. It is among the pinnacles of filmmaking. The visual effects were truly ahead of its time and holds up well today. That made James Cameron bulletproof and that was before Titanic.

Predator was a game changer for the genre.

People's answers and opinions will be biased and based on what movies they grew up watching.

I don't think it's that straight forward. I mean, there are movies that I love, that I acknowledge aren't great, but moreso fun. There are movies from previous eras that I think are excellent, and better constructed than anything I've seen that came out since, but I may still think another movie is more entertaining.

I think the disagreement is that he's comparing cookie-cutter current popular movies to movies that most would consider flawless films. There's 100s of 80's/90's movies I'd compare MCU to, but T2 & Predator aren't them. If that's the case, let's say they're on par with The Matrix (most of them aren't). It's like saying Ocean's 11 is no different than Goodfellas.

Movie's the definition of a timeless classic.

You won't care much for the vast majority of these MCU flicks in 10 years. Book it.

I agree, what makes T2 and Predator so great is the writing. We dont see high quality writing in blockbusters anymore

Nah only simple minded people view things that way. Nostalgia is real but anyone who is really into movies/hip-hop/music won't have biases depending on their own upbringing. They'll outgrow that.
