Only listened to Take Me Back to LA and Open Heart

both fire. but it strikes me that Weeknd isn't 'cool' anymore. He's like 34 or 35 and I'm 39, that era is ending or has already ended.
He's huge worldwide. Anywhere I travel in the world he's getting played in Ubers. But yeah the sound we first got into before he went pop was damn near 15 years ago and we're old now

Big Sleep
Red Terror
Baptized In Fear
Given Up On Me (Future tried to ruin)
Reflections Laughing (Travis tried to ruin)
I Can’t Wait To Get There
The Abyss

All dope songs but nothing grabs me like Out Of Time or Is There Someone Else at the moment

An hour and 23 minute long R&B album? In the short attention span era? :gucci:

Fukk wrong with this nikka :mjlol:

I wouldn't mind if the album had a bunch of uptempo/dance songs but listening to this right now and it's ehh, I mean the songs aren't bad I just kinda have an :unimpressed: energy listening to it

Mike dean done put his foot all in this joint.

Its good. But too
Many tracks and some are just too damn mellow.

Seems like the continuation of his last two albums. Same sound. I like those joints better.

Still getting a feel for it. I think it's probably something of an overreach, but Weekdn has always been an ambitious artist, he has never really stayed the same, like most of the greats, he reaches for something new everytime, and it doesn't always work.

Dawn FM was a very easy to listen to album. This feels like watching a Paul Thomas Anderson movie or some shyt. Like There Will be Blood. If you let let it play in a party/chill scene, it's perfect. But in my AirPods, I have only really gone to two tracks.

This strikes me as kinda inaccessible, too grandiose, melodramatic, distanced from the listener. Jay and Nas were the same, in the sense they made work that was challenging for the fan, and wasn't always what we wanted, or even that good.

Like I was saying in my first post, his music isn't the forefront of the youth anymore. Most of his fans are close to my age. He never has played it safe, but he doesn't set the trends anymore.

Its obviously not a "singles" or even a isolationist type of piece. This dead ass feels like he intended for it to be a continous listen. a actual fukking album. This almost never happens any more in mainstream music, where their work sets out to tell a story its usually just a collection of songs.

I fukk with this heavy.
