Never got the hype in this dude.. never will

:hhh:
Aint liked his albums since Starboy
:hhh:
this album ain’t really moving me on first listen :patrice:
:hhh:
This album is okay, but I can't see myself running it back from beginning to end again because 22 tracks is a lot to get through.
:hhh:
this type of production not for me :scust:
:hhh:
Without a Warning is trash:comeon:

There are a good 10-12 tracks that could be left off but that isnt one of them.

Wake me up might be the best track on there and that shyt is a blatant jack/bite
:hhh:

its a whole lotta uncultured filth in here:hhh:

i must vacate the thread:hhh:

Depends on what type of Weeknd fan you are. I like it a lot

This project kind've feels like the end of a trilogy following After Hours and Dawn FM.

For me, also, he finally mastered the dance pop sound he was trying on Dawn FM and finally found a good balance with r&b and the pop sound he's been experimenting with. It's kind've Dark Pop in a way.
This what I want to ask.... is it poppy After Hours/Starboy Abel or is it Toxic/dark RnB Abel? .... could tolerate the former, but I love the latter. I need my RnB dark n toxic like "High for This"

I'll listen eventually, but the Weeknd has been washed to me since BBTM. That was his last dope project that had a more R&B feel to it. The Trilogy and BBTM are the only Weeknd albums I enjoy.

Is this an overly pop sounding album?

....I think this might be his best work. I need to give it time but EVERYTHING is hitting, and he's jumping into different rnb lanes more than ever.
This is what I was saying. He pretty much gives you a mix of everything from his career. But leads into a more R&B lane for the length of it. Pop elements but the R&B is fighting thru

It has both, sounds like he incorporated sounds from all eras of his career and he's bouncing back and forth between each song.

For example

These songs are back 2 back, and this is happening throughout the album.

I fukk with this.

My name is short for Versatile, so Weeknd switching his sound up around Starboy and leaning into pop never bothered me. I appreciate both eras because the quality never dipped. Just comes down to what you prefer more sonically.

In terms of urban pop, he's the closest we'll get to MJ IMO. In terms of tone and sound, he's like if MJ's black child got kicked out of the house and grew up around scumbags :russ:

Chris is MJ's technical dancing ability/stage skill. The rest is Abel. Them both Mike's kids.

Dawn FM was insanely good. I was blown away when I first heard it. After Hours was brilliant too.

I'ma spin this tonight at the gym. Hope it's not too many slow jams lol.
