Loved the previous two in the trilogy but this one may surpass it for sure.

The transitions in the first half of the album are insane.

Yeah those were good, but this one..there is not a song I'd skip. The transitions, the flow, and the songs don't get repetitive by sounding the same.

Even the single Sao Paulo, which i didn't like by itself, actually sounds good to me now within the album

Still getting a feel for it. I think it's probably something of an overreach, but Weekdn has always been an ambitious artist, he has never really stayed the same, like most of the greats, he reaches for something new everytime, and it doesn't always work.

Dawn FM was a very easy to listen to album. This feels like watching a Paul Thomas Anderson movie or some shyt. Like There Will be Blood. If you let let it play in a party/chill scene, it's perfect. But in my AirPods, I have only really gone to two tracks.

This strikes me as kinda inaccessible, too grandiose, melodramatic, distanced from the listener. Jay and Nas were the same, in the sense they made work that was challenging for the fan, and wasn't always what we wanted, or even that good.

Like I was saying in my first post, his music isn't the forefront of the youth anymore. Most of his fans are close to my age. He never has played it safe, but he doesn't set the trends anymore.

I just keep thinking about kind fo the end of that era of music, and my life too. As far as his emergence around 2011, dominance/ascendence around 2015... He may be the last of his kind of international superstars, who had a lot of actual artistic talent and ambition.

great artists always want to do something new and challenging, and they probably know too, nothing stays the same.

Niagra Falls is fire. The lead in to Take Me Back To LA is fire. wow. Running that back.

The Abyss sequence with Lana is perfect. Saw her perform with Weeknd back in 2015.

I used to love you girl before the sun goes down.....your baby daddy been a scrub.... lets keep it hush

One of them albums where there's not much bad but also not much great. Very middle of the road on the nose Weeknd music. The standouts for me are "I can't wait to get there" and "enjoy the ride". Everything else is easy listening but not very memorable. Good background music for when you're chilling. You can pretty much predict exactly what every weeknd album will sound like at this point.
Weekend albums tend to be slow burners for me like Kendrick, where I have to listen to it a few times to really get it.
