fukk the sopranos the only time they got it right was bokeem woodbines black crime boss that couldn't stand tony's fat ass...:martin:

Watch Tony's face when bokeem says the name of the rap lyric to the Jewish guy.

:russ: he was such a dukkhead

I'm satisfied with the sopranos racism. I don't need to be liked. In the end tony got wacked and his crew was in shambles so all everything before that is just digga hole. Fun show with a satisfying ending. A bunch of psycho cacs and colonizers getting destroyed for talking shyt about black people :banderas:

This segment here clearly shows how Tony perceives black people. He will do business with them (same with Jews for that matter), but that's it. There were many stereotypes in the Sopranos (for instance stingy Jews, that Puerto-Rican girl that was with AJ, movie actors being dikks, fat Italians occupied with food, the proud Indians etc...), but I think that they didn't go overboard and added to the authenticity of the show.

Meadow knew wtf she was doing..Tony was right she set that Noah kid up..Meadow was a sly, sneaky bytch..

Yea I think this too..

1. Phil got whacked in a gruesome ass, disrespectful way...in front of his wife, grandkids, shot in the head, can't have an open casket. The way it went down I don't think NYC would be okay with the way in went down..Tony was eating with his family in public, it would've been an eye for an eye.

Cmon. Y’all are coming up with the same weak excuses that always get brought up when we talk about racism in gangster movies. It’s not about “bad guys being depicted as bad guys” it’s about black characters being depicted as stereotypical caricatures.

Every other character on this show, even the minor one offs like Bobby Baccala’s father is a “bad guy” but they are written with nuance and humor and given real personalities and their existence is usually related to the larger theme of the show...why can’t the exact same writers put that effort towards a black character?

I loved the show but I see no reason to defend an obvious flaw...
:salute:

People don't get the point of this discussion.

No one gives much of a shyt about how the characters treated blacks, it's how the show itself wrote a lot of these black characters. So many of them are paper thin, cringe worthy stereotypes.

It's not about the italians behavior, it's about the blacks depiction.

the strawman arguments built to defend the show and ignore the actual point are :whew: -worthy

Look at the comments, they just don't get it. Tony and the government official are literally conspiring to destroy this poor neighborhood and yet they are being hypocrites by saying that they should "pull themselves up like his family did". Or how when you break it down they are criminals pretending they are better or something.

They totally overlook the fact that the Soprano family got rich from organized crime. But hey, Tony, the killer mob boss is admirable because he has a nice house and no litter on his street.

I always felt like this was a show that included a lot of personal shyt about David chase (obvious not the gangster shyt, the emotional, anxiety, mom issues, seeing a doc, etc) i always referred to that's how David chase sees black folks. The scene where the rapper pays to have bobby shoot em

so I just finished watching this entire series and have avoided any and all discussion of ever any details.

Tony comes away as a character with little to no redeeming qualities. Even tho at times he's painted as the level-headed guy who's gonnna do what's right. But then he turns around and does something else bad.

Personally, they went overboard with the Black hate....just leave us out of the script. Like when he was telling Dr Melfi about Meadow wanting to be a lawyer "for black people", he rolled his eyes.

But on the flip side, any/every other race on the show got name called too. Blacks just got it the worst.

Before watching the show, I always thought Tony Soprano was a good-bad guy. But he was really a bad guy thru and thru

Truth the episode with Charles s Dutton playing a cop he was an honorable good cop and it showed that tony was corrupt and entitled op forgot about that episode
Lol..every episode shows Tony is corrupt and fukked up..hes in a world, by choice, which can get his kids killed anyday of the week. Dude refused to want to fukk his wife...lol. Turned on his cousin..Chris..Adriana...hated the thought of his daughter getting her p*ssy rammed by a BLACK HUMAN BEING...raised a very weak son...

The episode where the psychiatrist ETHERED Carmella was wonderful. "I want take your money because its blood money. You're not understanding. Take your kids, what's left of them, and go." Lol.

It kind of makes sense..Godfather had a passing comment on the mindset of how they see Blacks when Sonny said "The n1ggers are out there in Harlem driving their big Cadillacs. I knew they would" Saw them as unintelligent base animals even though they are calculating murders and didnt have the foresight to protect their father from a threat that was obvious when drugs got involved in territory ownership.

Ive always felt like the Irish are the most racist amongst cacs but Italians are right up there. Of course all cacs are mentally ill but to pinpoint which particular breed amongst them is the worst...Irish faggits still get my vote :pacspit:

Anyone else noticed how they always made up some imaginary black men, when they wanted to get away with a crime or something?
Technically Meadow should hate her father 100x worse than she did..they told her a black dude blew Jackie Jrs brains out..lol. I always thought Meadow should of turned on them and brought them down after seeing something she couldnt live with.

And Carmella is one of the most ridiculous characters in television history..there was that season she wanted her own money or something. Lol. She dont do work so that dudnt make any sense. Was whining about giving that university money because hat Dean knew about their tax bracket. 50k donation? fukk that. What u gotta remember about organized crime is that this is about ROBBERY. SKIMMING. Not supposed to ever give it back...the point Joe Pesci made in Casino always applies..."that's what were out here for..to rob the fukking place ".
