So, I've been buying parts for the last couple of weeks for a new system.
4790K, 16 GB ram, and probably going to build it this weekend. I'm going to use on-board video until nvidia's 800 series comes out. Still not sure what kind of CPU cooler to go for though.
so having a GTX 780 my card will keep overclocking itself until it reached 80c? I'm wondering this because while playing Tomb Raider my temps keep climbing towards that. I thought that was kinda hot so I used afterburner to boost the fans.
nvidia's default fan-curve is pretty weak. I guess they want to make the card seem more 'quiet'so having a GTX 780 my card will keep overclocking itself until it reached 80c? it's easy if you do it before you install your mobo in your caseHow much of a pain is a non-stock CPU cooler potentially going to be to install? I haven't installed one in years, but I remember how bad it was.
have you heard of this GPU Boost 2.0 that says they card will intentionally push itself until it gets to 80c?nvidia's default fan-curve is pretty weak. I guess they want to make the card seem more 'quiet'
I think the 780 will actually start throttling at around 80c, so you want to stay away from that. I have a pretty aggressive fan-curve, and I seldom see it go above the mid-60's
yes. the thing is, you get more 'boost' at lower tempshave you heard of this GPU Boost 2.0 that says they card will intentionally push itself until it gets to 80c?
Do you do graphics rendering or hd video editing? So, I've been buying parts for the last couple of weeks for a new system.

might as well get an i7. some games already are recommending as much. for example Watch Dogs did. its already beginning.Honestly, I was going to get an i5, but my friends swore that I needed an i7. I was certain that an i5 would be fine for my needs, but I ending up caving during a Microcenter sale. In my defense... it was cheaper than Amazon.
