Going a few steps backward in current tech, putting together an audio only listening room. Just picked up a mint condition Sony DVD/CD 5-Disc changer, looking at a MiniDisc, and DAT deck. Also grabbed a Sony CD 5-Disc changer for the living room as I have about 600 cd's and no dedicated player for them. All the disc are ripped to 16/24bit FLAC files on a Synology NAS.
Got a bit nostalgic and bought a Sony CFD-775 boombox to fix up. '90-'91 era, Sony had these damn things retailed for $460, insane pricing for boombox especially considering your avg Sharp, JVC, or Panasonic was easily under $200. This thing competed with shelf mini-system with features and sound quality. 2-way bass reflex detachable speakers, hi-speed cd-dubbing, full logic Dolby cassette decks, metal type IV tape playback (type II recordable), 3 band eq, motorized volume, and remote control. Seller said cd and decks didn't work, I took it apart and was able to fix one the decks with new belts, cd plays fine, laser needs adjustment. Painted the speaker grills in their original semi-gloss, and painted the drivers so they don't look faded.
