I was thinking about this more and more, I think the digital edition will be $399 and the regular edition will be $499. The BOM of the disc drive is maybe $50 or less but Sony is willing to take a hit on the console knowing that all of your game purchases are going to the PS Store opposed to Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Gamestop etc.

However, if you have a PS4 library that is all physical media discs then you'd be forced to buy the regular edition at $499 since you care about backwards compatibility.

Might make the switch to PlayStation from the Xbox. Haven’t played games in years but I think it’s because the same games get dropped yearly. Might get back into gaming with this new PlayStation. That Miles Morales Spider-Man made me think hard about it...
