Hardman: We haven't talked a lot about Elberton (GA) 2016 five-star athlete Mecole Hardman on here because the long belief in his recruitment is that it will either be Georgia or Tennessee; two schools he has literally been to about ten times each and have long been the only schools mentioned as far as true competition goes.

Michigan's approach with someone of Hardman's combination of caliber and proximity (southern recruit) has been straight-forward: they can win with him, or they can win without him. This has apparently resonated with Hardman, who has publicly taken notice of how quickly Michigan has turned things around on the field under Jim Harbaugh:

Two people we've talked to have literally said the exact same thing when it comes to Hardman: One, Georgia is the favorite unless they continue to struggle during their conference season. Two, Michigan is the one school that's not Georgia or Tennessee that has a chance in this race.

If anything, the resounding message in a recruitment like this is that kids are noticing what Michigan does. We recently posted an update on the top cornerback in the 2017 class in Deangelo Gibbs (another Georgia product), who is looking to visit for the Ohio State game in November. These are kids that wouldn't have really considered Michigan before. If Hardman ends up somewhere besides Georgia or Tennessee, it will still be a big surprise to us, but it appears that his interest in learning more about Michigan appears to be legit.

McCaffrey: Some decent news regarding the recruitment of 2017 Top50 quarterback Dylan McCaffrey came to light this week following his unofficial visit to Ann Arbor last weekend.

Right now, Michigan believes they are the leader for his services. McCaffrey will not name a public leader anytime soon, or maybe throughout his recruitment, but the last visit did enough to reportedly give the coaching staff a feel that they're in front ----- for now. That was not something felt going into the visit, as there was uncertainty about Michigan's position, despite the consensus being that it was good.

All Crystal Ball Predictions

UCLA is the one school Michigan looked at as the biggest potential threats, with Notre Dame and Stanford as two programs that would become threats with offers. There are strong rumors that the Cardinal leads for both Davis Mills (Michigan offer) and Jake Fromm in the 2017 class, so at this point it's unclear whether or not they'd look to offer McCaffrey, despite his brother putting himself in the Heisman conversation over the last few weeks.

For now, things are all positive with McCaffrey. We don't necessarily expect Michigan to expand their 2017 QB board anytime soon, but if they do, we're told it's NOT an indication that their chances with McCaffrey (or Mills for that matter) are any less.

Bits
- Michigan is nowhere to be found on the leaderboard for 2017 five-star athlete Jeffrey Okudah at this point. Ohio State leads, with Stanford and Florida State among the other programs he's strongly considering at this point. Okudah is a prospect we expect Michigan to continue to push for, as safety will be a need in the 2017 cycle and that's where they currently prefer him. The Buckeyes are in solid position with a plethora of DB/WR type athletes, so it will be interesting to see how it shakes out with them in the cycle.

- 2017 four-star running back Adarius Lemons says he's looking to visit for the Ohio State game. We don't believe he will end up making it, but he says the Wolverines are "at the top" of his list. Whether that's leader or top group, it's hard to say, but Michigan may be a player in this one.

- Bridgeton (NJ) 2017 three-star athlete Markquese Bell won't visit Michigan until next spring, but we believe the Wolverines have a commanding lead in his recruitment, provided he ends up as a take when he's ready to make a college choice. The Wolverines have no preference at this point for what side of the ball they like him on, although he may fit better as a wide receiver.

- As we reported on Wednesday, Michigan passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach Jedd Fisch saw Dylan McCaffrey and Ohio State offensive tackle commitment Jake Moretti this week. Confirming what Bill Kurelic reported on Friday, Moretti remains 100% to the Buckeyes, and Michigan is one of a handful of schools that are continuing to recruit him. Look for the Wolverines to continue to pursue him and get him on campus.

- We're guessing it won't end up mattering in the grand scheme of things, but Michigan running back commitment Kurt Taylor is close friends with 2018's top overall prospect in five-star quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Michigan offered Lawrence a few months ago and would love to have him up for a game this year, but he's not expressed much interest in doing so. Taylor may try to work on getting him up to come for a game with him.

We could finish this class very, very strong. good to see there's been no drop off in recruiting from hoke to harbaugh, if anything a touch better...cause we're winning, which hoke couldn't sell to his recruits.

im concerned about linebacker though, we need to close out strong there.
A hell of lot more top kids interested in us then when Hoke was the coach.Kids from all over Cali Texas Florida Jersey Georgia its not just Midwest.Gawdbaugh NFL pedigree really paying off:wow:

Linebacker is gonna come down to either the All American games, or signing day. It sucks (not knowing who we're gonna end up with) but I'm a million percent confident that this coaching staff has plans A through Z .. as opposed to the Hoke era.

His potential was out of this world and he never got a chance to fully utilize it. Same with Gallon, Roundtree, & Hemingway :to:

:ehh:Gallon had a great year with Devin as his QB had well over 1,000 yards the 1st full year Devin started. The other two no so much Denard was throwing the ball then you never knew where the ball would be half the time either in the WR hands or the defenders:mjlol:he was a hell of playmaker tho.Michigan hasn't replaced him since:wow::mjcry:

Denard just threw it up like he was playing jackpot or something. But Hemingway always bailed him out :blessed:
