I cleared out my inbox just to see it fill back up again with questions about Jabrill Peppers. I'll address all of them in this thread and hopefully that will be the end of it...

-- This is a personal matter, not a criminal one (notice that the young woman in question printed and posted 5,000 fliers instead of filing a criminal complaint). I would be surprised if it progressed to that point. She seems to be more interested in publicly shaming/embarrassing him than she seems to be in seeking any legal recourse. And no, I don't think this is an example of an alleged victim fearing being exposed or suffering repercussions. Again... she apparently printed and posted 5,000 fliers around campus. I was able to find out who she was with a few phone calls and more on her background with a few inquiries back home in Flint.

-- Suggestions of a "cover-up" and that he'll be allowed to "get away with everything" are far fetched at best. Even though no one that knows him believes him to be capable of such conduct, you can bet that in light of the intense scrutiny that came from the Brendon GIbbons case that ample attention is being paid to this. (Not that they are sharing any of details what they're doing to address it with the media).

-- Despite the very public manner in which the allegations against Jabrill were made, I still don't feel it's appropriate or necessary to share the young woman's identity. All I'll share is that her method of levying the accusations, the jilted-acquaintance tone of the letter, and her background as an entertainer raise enough questions about the veracity of her claims to prevent penalizing him without something more substantive than what is out there currently.

Two things that are big takeaways for me...

1.) Safe sex, safe sex, and more safe sex. I would be shocked if that message isn't being hammered home by both his football family and his direct family. The same goes for the rest of the team.

2.) This is a cautionary tale about life in the spotlight. High profile players have to learn to deal with an obscene amount of attention before they even get to college these days. And before you say it has always been that way, remember the story I passed along about Nike having to ban groupies from the player hotel at The Opening? Groupies for high school kids?!

Well now the attention is on a different level for college kids too. They have to be more diligent in scrutinizing their relationships. They don't just deal with ordinary co-eds anymore. Like I said... the co-ed in this case is also an entertainer. Maybe she envisioned the relationship meaning something for her personally and professionally?

Who knows. I'm just pointing out that these guys have to more cognizant of how targeted they are.

I don't even have to talk to Jabrill to know he got that message loud and clear.

Corey Long, who used to cover USF for 247Sports, put in a 247Sports Crystal Ball choice for USC commit Keyshon Camp to flip to Michigan about a week or so ago. He's in tune with recruiting in SoFla, so it's a more noticeable choice than a lot of people that put predictions in.

I talked to Camp briefly yesterday, and he says he's been hearing from Michigan twice a week still and that they've been staying on him hard. It's my contention that Michigan would not be continuing to pursue him unless they thought they had a real shot with him. It (naturally) hasn't been their style to fight uphill battles with kids committed elsewhere. Greg Mattison and DJ Durkin, two of Michigan's best recruiters, are the ones leading the charge for the former teammate of current Wolverine Reuben Jones.

Camp is scheduled to visit USC officially next month with Mom, which may mean after the season without a new head coach. USC is always going to recruit well, even while in transition, but that's usually because they have a strong base in southern California to choose from. It could be different for a family sending their kid all the way across the country. Camp's situation will remain in the "situation to monitor" file for the foreseeable future. We still think Michigan is the only school that could flip him from the Trojans.

Camp plays for Lake Gibson high. I've seen him up close the last 2 years. They were in my Alma Mater's district, so they played every year. I remember watching him with other ex players and alumni, and we all said the same thing. The kids got talent and he moves GREAT for a kid his size. The only issue was, it seemed like he was never in shape. He'd play 2 plays, then take 3-4 off. Now, I'm not sure if that was due to package substitutions, but I'm not sure why you'd take a kid like that off your line at all. He'd literally be huffing and puffing while coming out.

Obviously we'd get him into shape at UM, but it's just the main thing that jumped out at me. I also noticed there were no highlights against the top 2 teams in his district. Osceola High (my alma mater) and Lakeland High. I see dude barreling over smaller lineman in these highlights. But.. at the same time .. there's no denying his athleticism. The kid can move, and he hits like a truck. He just never impressed me much when I saw him live.

With that said, if Harbaugh and Co. see upside, and they can work with him .. then bring him aboard.
