That’s one of the best teasers I’ve seen. Remember watching this one years ago and backing out of it early. May have to right that wrong soon. Sounds like my kind of movie with the way you’re describing the latter half.
Oh you haven’t seen Magic yet??

Yeah you definitely need to watch the original before the remake is released. It has that loopy slow build/flashback usual 70s movie vibes and character development but Anthony Hopkins knows how to play some crazy 😭I see why he was a natural fit for Silence of the Lambs. It’s on Freevee (IMDb tv) and TubiTV.

I see the coorelation with The Joker seeing as AH in Magic plays a loser who can’t do right, constantly in situations to his detriment until he starts spiraling and reaches his breaking point. Takes care of his sick old father who sees him as a disappointment - no social skills - incel ish. Doesn’t have any real relationships, instead of the imaginary friend- he relies on the ventriloquist dummy. Lol. Fukkery and depravity ensues.

i don't know how i feel about this one.
It wasn't bad, but i guess i was expecting it to be more of a fukkery type of horror movie based on the marketing. But it was a pretty much straight faced movie (no pun intended). I can only remember 1 joke. It touched on some pretty serious dark themes. I guess that's what's kind of making this hard to judge for me.

It relied a little too much on jump scares.
The birthday party scene and what happens to the cat was kind of wild.

Hellraiser got a secret screening at Fantastic Fest and I'm seeing positive reviews. I'm looking forward to it even more now.

Another movie getting some love outta Fantastic Fest is an anthology horror from all Latin creators Satanic Hispanics. That includes the director of Terrified which is one of my favorite horror movies of the last 5 years. Also Eduardo Sanchez who co-directed the original Blair Witch. I had slept on it initially off not being sure I could take the Napoleon Dynamite dude seriously. But everything points to legit.

don’t have time to read through pages but what was your take on barbarian so I know if we into the same type of horror flicks….
It's fukking fantastic! I thought it was fresh, unsettling, and has a great story. The jump scares are used so well. I think this is gonna make bank off of word of mouth, and they were smart to release it near Halloween. 9/10 for the genre, IMO.
