Those are my top two RZ movies. His first Halloween has grown on me some over time, I still really don't like his second one. I think the Firefly family trilogy is his best work, because he's good at creating twisted characters and then having "normies" encounter them for chaos. His plotting and writing is mid, but his characters and situational stuff is really strong. I WISH he'd pair with a genuine writer that can connect the scenarios he constructs better.
The TCM suggestion from
@Flex Grossman definitely adds up. His older stuff used to give me a Natural Born Killers Vibe which would work nicely folded into a TCM universe.
