He didn't work the body after literally seeing Joshua huffing & puffing......not once did Wlad throw a jab, hook, or even uppercut during the clinch to Joshua's body.

He already had suspect stamina, but this man was dead tired infront of you, and obviously avoiding these sweeping left hooks at this point, Banks should've told Wlad to touch his body to speed up his descent into Ugonoh territory.

That's what I fault Banks for. Other than that, everything else was cool. Just the absolute disrespect for body work allowed Joshua to get a 2nd wind, and finish his assault later in the fight.

Wlad hardly ever works the body so I didn't really expect him to against Joshua. He's not gonna risk getting countered. Should Wlad have gone to the body? Hell yeah, and not just in this fight but a shyt load of others he done had in the past.

Banks prolly already knows that and isn't trying to teach an old dog new tricks. :manny: Sometimes you gotta know what you dealing with as a trainer and work around certain faults.

Wlad prolly should have pressured with the jab and hid the right hand before unloading it to get dude outta there.

True.

Wlad lost a winnable fight for him, but he definitely put up a valiant effort. Makes me wonder if the Wlad who fought David Haye would've beatean Joshua last night? I think so.

I give Joshua props for the win, but with Jennings, then Fury, then Joshua, it's safe to say "Dr Steel Hammer" is no more. He should retire imo.

How so in this fight?
Round six. Wlad was insanely prepared for this fight. He did everything right. The only blip in the program was Joshua lashing out when he was gassed (Round 5). But rounds 5-6-7 should have spelled the end for Joshua.

As a major Lennox stan, the thing I remember most about Manny was his timing. He had a phenomenal sense of when his fighters opponent was struggling. For all of Manny’s pragmatism, when it was time to get a guy out of there, he got on his fighter to get on them , and gave them clear and concise instructions and motivation to do so.

The Wlad/Manny pairing worked perfectly because Manny’s conservative style worked to minimize Wlad’s physical weaknesses (punching himself out/getting caught) and the timing of knowing when his opponent was ready to go allowed Manny to hold his hand through his mental weakness (trigger shyness, brought on by those physical weaknesses).

Banks gets the first part of Wlad. He doesn’t have the ability to handle the second. I can’t help but think if Manny was in that corner for rounds 5-6-7, Wlad wins the fight.

Yup, I felt like it was Wlad's fight to lose once he survived the knockdown.

Its craz because he really showed some declining against Jennings and Fury, but he looked good against Joshua as far as effort is concerned. He looked more focused and seemed more quicker and agile.

A younger Wlad might have done the job against Joshua, but even then he still wasnt a body puncher. I thought he looked like shyt against Haye.

Wlad could retire, but his performance pretty much helped uplift the whole division. Why retire when everybody finally fukking with you. At least fight Parker or Wilder first. Hell even a Bellew fight could prolly do numbers.

unless he needs money why?

only beating aj,wilder, fury helps his legacy...and I don't think he can beat any of them if they are in good shape.

I mean he has money, wife child.....why should he risk his health after he could leave boxing and still walk talk properly with a top 10 hof hw career with millions......:yeshrug:

Some nikkas just love boxing breh. Its the thrill of the chase. The excitement, the danger, there's nothing like it.

I don't think Wlad is in over his head with anybody at heavy. He has a legit shot against all of the top dudes if he takes it as serious as he did with Joshua.

That's the thing with boxing. We can't manage these nikkas careers. He's done enough in the sport where he can retire peacefully, but if he wants to keep fighting I have no problem with it. This ain't angulo or Roy jones. Wlad is still capable and his name just got real hot again. Why not fight again. Bellew and Parker are real winnable bouts for him and everybody else is like 50-50 fights.

Lewis retired when everyone wanted that Vitali rematch and I know he still regrets it, because that nikka was looking salty as hell in the audience when Joshua got that knockout. LL always felt he never got his just due with the fans, but the one time everyone was finally riding for him he called it quits.

Word if you don't like it then don't watch it.

These fighters only live once, some love the attention and some love the money.
