yep expected when u can sell out a 90000 crowd.

he'll be lookin for the biggest pay days too.

I think Tyson was one of the last modern hw that was real active in his prime...like 3-4 fights a year.

I think tyson was fighting 2 or 3 times a year after the Douglas lost.

2 fights a year when you're still rather unknown outside of the UK?

:snoop:

That money coming in.

Eddie Hearn gon milk that cow

Some nikkas just love boxing breh. Its the thrill of the chase. The excitement, the danger, there's nothing like it.

I don't think Wlad is in over his head with anybody at heavy. He has a legit shot against all of the top dudes if he takes it as serious as he did with Joshua.

That's the thing with boxing. We can't manage these nikkas careers. He's done enough in the sport where he can retire peacefully, but if he wants to keep fighting I have no problem with it. This ain't angulo or Roy jones. Wlad is still capable and his name just got real hot again. Why not fight again. Bellew and Parker are real winnable bouts for him and everybody else is like 50-50 fights.

Lewis retired when everyone wanted that Vitali rematch and I know he still regrets it, because that nikka was looking salty as hell in the audience when Joshua got that knockout. LL always felt he never got his just due with the fans, but the one time everyone was finally riding for him he called it quits.

Exactly..its all on the motivation of the fighter...shyt look at maidana..all the stories about him was he didn't like boxing but he did it to make some paper..didnt study it or really watch tape or watch it on his own accord..and as soon as he got those mayweather paydays which goes a long way in his country, he was ghost...he got what he wanted

Wlad is on the downside of his career but now in this loss he prolly earned himself several potential multimillion dollar paydays rumbling with the young cats at HW....shyt has come full circle now with what he used to be in his young days before the steward switch up...and chances he will prolly indulge until that spotlight and/or skills fade some more :manny:

Yup
Plus remember nikkas used to bytch about his boring ass fights or average ass opponents for years. Dude might not care like that, but if he did....it's quite understandable on his part to continue fighting now that his name is hot and a bunch of notable fights are around.

Wlad retiring now is like a dope mixtape rapper calling it quits once he finally catches his big break by releasing a hot album nationwide. Yeah you got what you wanted, but why stop there if you truly live for this shyt and love it.

It's funny with Chino, because guys like him, fans will usually shyt on since he doesn't love the sport like that, but now that he's gone, nikkas wish he was back.

Shannon Briggs vs. Fres Oquendo - Ticket Information

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Two-time world heavyweight champion Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs and three-time title challenger Fres Oquendo will battle for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Backyard Brawl: Briggs vs. Oquendo taking place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Doors open at 6 p.m. with first fight at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

One of boxing's most popular and larger-than-life personalities who fights in its resurgent glamor division, Briggs' self-made brand and boxing acumen has helped him land several world title fights since 1998. On June 3, the 45-year-old Briggs will bring a five-fight knockout streak into the ring as he attempts to make history by matching the likes of two-time world heavyweight champion George Foreman. The oldest heavyweight champion ever, Foreman won his final heavyweight championship at the age of 45.

"Fighting for the WBA Heavyweight Championship against Fres Oquendo is a wonderful opportunity and true privilege," said Briggs. "Being able to fight at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in front of my hometown fans and right in my backyard is extremely exciting. I'm working very hard right now with some great sparring partners that are pushing me to the limit. Fight night will be a long one for Fres Oquendo. I want to dedicate this fight to my children, my family, all of my fans and to all of the people around the world who have suffered from depression. I'm living proof that you can make it. Don't give up. LET'S GO CHAMP!"

Returning to the ring after a disputed defeat to Ruslan Chagaev in a 2014 title fight, Oquendo is co-promoted by future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr.'s Square Ring Promotions and Hitz Boxing as he looks to become the first heavyweight champion from Puerto Rico since John Ruiz in 2001.

"This will be a great fight between two veteran American fighters," said Oquendo. "I've fought in Miami five times, plus, I train at the historic 5th Street Gym in Miami Beach, so I'm very comfortable here. The trials and tribulations I've encountered for 30 years in this sport and 20 as a professional, are finally coming to fruition. They say third time is the charm, but the fourth is the holy grail and the most special. I'm dedicating this fight to Jaxon King, my friend's son who just passed away at five years of age. I'm also doing this for my mentor, Muhammad Ali. Winning his belt on the anniversary of his passing will be special. I'm going to borrow the belt for a bit and give it back when I'm done beating Shannon."

Less than 30 miles from the Miami Beach Convention Center that hosted the 1964 Fight of the Year between Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston, Briggs and Oquendo will look to ignite the passions of the rabid boxing fans in South Florida as they seek a piece of the championship crown and move closer to the ultimate goal of unifying the heavyweight division.

"We're extremely excited about bringing this WBA Heavyweight World Championship fight to Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino," said Kris Lawrence, founder of The Heavyweight Factory. "We're really proud of Shannon Briggs, who has a chance to tie George Foreman's record and become a champion for a third time. It is truly amazing for a heavyweight like Shannon to have lasted and preserved himself for so long. He was champion in two different decades. First in 1997 and then 2006. Now in 2017, he has the chance to do it again. We hope to see everyone coming out and supporting Shannon Briggs the night of the fight, as he is the 'People's Champ.' LET'S GO CHAMP!"

Briggs has made South Florida his home and training camp for much of his career. He will be making his fourth start at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and his ninth in the state.

Representing the boxing hotbed of Brooklyn, Briggs (60-6-1, 53 KOs) seeks the third heavyweight world title in his long and eventful career. Briggs became a world champion in 2006 when he scored a 12th round stoppage of Siarhei Liakhovich. Briggs has faced the best heavyweights in the world and won the lineal heavyweight world title from George Foreman in 1997. He also defeated Ray Mercer in 2005, in addition to world title challenges of Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko. He enters this fight as the winner of his last nine contests, including eight knockouts and a 12-round decision over Raphael Zumbano Love.

Originally from Puerto Rico and fighting out of Chicago throughout his pro career, Oquendo (37-8, 24 KOs)looks to capitalize on his fourth opportunity and capture a world title. The slick-boxer has faced a slew of top heavyweights throughout his career, including narrow decision losses to Evander Holyfield and James Toney, plus title challenges of Chris Byrd and John Ruiz. The 44-year-old owns recent victories over Derric Rossy and Joey Abell in addition to triumphs over Clifford Etienne, David Izon and Javier Mora.

Briggs vs. Oquendo Fight Week promises to excite with week-long events that will lead up to this historic night. Among the boxing royalty invited to Fight Week and Fight Night are Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones Jr, Michael Moorer, Riddikk Bowe and more.

Ticket prices are $75, $100, $150, $250 and $500; ringside seats are sold for $1,000; ringside tables with six seats are $5,500 and 10 seats are $11,000 (plus a $5 Facility Maintenance fee applies). All seats are reserved and available at all Ticketmaster outlets online at www.myhrl.com, www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: 1-800-745-3000. Doors open one hour prior to show start time. *Additional fees may apply.

Wlad does that he wins the fight. But he fought too careful that's why I say he should retire.

True, but he's a cautious dude by nature. I don't think he wanted to punch himself out. Dude was already fighting at a higher pace than normal. Wlad ain't a cerebral boxer. Dude's a thinker. He prolly over thought the situation and figured he could build on that momentum and finish him late.

Joshua gets stopped if the same scenario is with Vitali. Vitali is just meaner and lets his hands go more. Besides the Bryd fight, he never thought about getting stopped. Dude was always the better brother, but since people laud skills over intangibles he never got that recognition.

After watching Joshua hit the canvas, Ortiz is even more confident that he will stop the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.

"I feel more than ever that I will ko Joshua within 8 rounds - but I also feel that after Klitschko dropped Joshua with one punch that Eddie Hearn will never let Joshua get in the ring with me. To me Klitschko let him off the hook. I wouldn't have. I would have had him out of there in that 6th round," said Ortiz to BoxingScene.com.

"Look, it's simple. Eddie will protect his cash cow. You heard it yourself, how Joshua didn't mention my name knowing I'm next for him but he called out [Tyson] Fury after fight. I saw weakness. I saw a fighter that can be dropped with one punch. I even say he got lucky they stopped the fight because he wasn't even landing a punch when it got stopped. If they wouldn't have stopped it he was gassed out again - plain and simple."

The Cuban southpaw hopes to face Joshua in the fall and hopes that the Brit honors his mandatory status. Ortiz said that regardless of what Joshua does he expects to fight for the WBA title before the year is over.

"I congratulate the young man for courage but I'm next and that is that. Look, my team let that fight happen because the WBA and Eddie Hearn asked us for a favor and because Klitschko didn't want to fight me but I'm done being pushed back. It's my time and I want my WBA belt so yeah I'm calling Joshua out. If he likes he can just give up the belt but if not then October or November sounds good to me so it's your move boy. To be the best you have to fight the best," Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.

There's a line for Joshua right now:

  1. Wladimir Klitschko rematch
  2. Luis Ortiz (mandatory)
  3. Tyson Fury (voluntary)
  4. Deontay Wilder

All searching for him. His next moves will be interesting.
He's also got a mandatory for his IBF with Kubrat Pulev

Am I the only one who thought Vitali was in there at times this past Saturday?

The older Vlad gets the more he looks like Vitali.

Nah....when I seen him in trouble, I knew he wasnt Vitali.

Vitali hasn't ever been knocked down in his career, whether Boxing or kick boxing.

He had a granite chin

I disagree about him regretting it.

Lennox was self aware enough to know it was time to hang it up. I don't think Lennox likes the idea of any guy getting the better of him when he's not in his prime.

He's still had plenty to offer though

Nah he didn't want to go through that again with Vitali, which is always a tough fight.
