weird in what way?
he was an educated intellectual with a wealth of knowledge..did he wear women's underwear during training sessions?

Nawl not that I know of :patrice:

Maybe weird was the wrong word. But everything I ever read about him that he was a "different" kind of guy in some aspects of his life i.e.; super paranoid, big focus on the mental side of things, and a real private secluded guy.( I guess that don't make him weird lol) Which ain't nothing wrong with all that ( I actually think more trainers should focus on the mental side of the fight game more). He just wasn't a run of the mill boxing trainer which I guess that was why I liked him. In the Mike Tyson book the beginning when he was getting molded by cus was the best part to me.

After watching Joshua hit the canvas, Ortiz is even more confident that he will stop the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.

"I feel more than ever that I will ko Joshua within 8 rounds - but I also feel that after Klitschko dropped Joshua with one punch that Eddie Hearn will never let Joshua get in the ring with me. To me Klitschko let him off the hook. I wouldn't have. I would have had him out of there in that 6th round," said Ortiz to BoxingScene.com.

"Look, it's simple. Eddie will protect his cash cow. You heard it yourself, how Joshua didn't mention my name knowing I'm next for him but he called out [Tyson] Fury after fight. I saw weakness. I saw a fighter that can be dropped with one punch. I even say he got lucky they stopped the fight because he wasn't even landing a punch when it got stopped. If they wouldn't have stopped it he was gassed out again - plain and simple."

The Cuban southpaw hopes to face Joshua in the fall and hopes that the Brit honors his mandatory status. Ortiz said that regardless of what Joshua does he expects to fight for the WBA title before the year is over.

"I congratulate the young man for courage but I'm next and that is that. Look, my team let that fight happen because the WBA and Eddie Hearn asked us for a favor and because Klitschko didn't want to fight me but I'm done being pushed back. It's my time and I want my WBA belt so yeah I'm calling Joshua out. If he likes he can just give up the belt but if not then October or November sounds good to me so it's your move boy. To be the best you have to fight the best," Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.

There's a line for Joshua right now:

  1. Wladimir Klitschko rematch
  2. Luis Ortiz (mandatory)
  3. Tyson Fury (voluntary)
  4. Deontay Wilder

All searching for him. His next moves will be interesting.

and a Pulev mandatory which he has to take first if Klitschko doesn't exercise his rematch clause.
I hope he doesn't cause I've no business in watching Pulev vs somebody for the IBF title so we would have 4 different title holders again.
but tbh... I more and more start to give fukks about titles and the point is rather that we should see who's the definitive best in a weightclass. Organizations reached a point with their bullshyt when I'm just "okay, let's have it" when some domestic bum parades as a champion while the serious fighters in the division fight each other.
Of course I'm still excited for a unification and I still want the least possible amount of champions per divisions but the main point is rather good fights and a definitive best in divisions.

Imam ticking over, awaits decision on Crawford or Postol title shot

Amir Imam 19-1-0 (16 KO's) returned to the gym a few weeks ago.

The “Young Master” super lightweight prospect rated #1 contender at the WBC ranking inside the 140 pound weight class, continues to train and waits for the decision to be made by current WBC champion Terence Crawford.

Imam, along with his team led by Stacy McKinley, work day by day at The Heavyweight Factory in Hollywood, Fla., pending the announcement of Crawford.

Super-lightweight king Crawford is reportedly planning to rise to welterweight and would leave his title vacant.

"We are at GYM once again; I still haven’t a date for the next fight. However, that is not my job, I'm here at the GYM getting ready for when my team tells me to go up and fight," Imam said.

"Boxing is a sport where you lose and win, obviously the defeat with Granados affected me, but that is already in the past and we must move forward. Sometimes, you learn more from defeats than from victories," added Amir.

For his part, Coach McKinley believes that Amir has many opportunities to get a world title as super light or welter.

"Amir is young yet, he has the quality and talent to achieve his goals. As #1 contender in the WBC ranking, he has the opportunity to fight against Postol which is the #2 if Crawford vacates his title."

We will be watching Crawford's moves, we are already here in the GYM training to get 100% physically. For now, the job is to maintain the Imam condition, when we have defined the next fight and against whom he will raise to the ring, we will design a fight plan with more details," Stacy said.

Hearn: Fury in terrible condition, miles away from fighting Joshua and won't be next Joshua v Fury

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has ruled out a fight for new heavyweight king Anthony Joshua against former ruler and UK rival Tyson Fury.

Despite being highly vocal about being the first challenger to the unified champion, Hearn says Fury's 100 pound plus weight gain and impending drug ruling mean a clash is off the table for the time being.

"We are desperate for that fight because AJ thinks he wins comfortably, it is a great fight and it is the biggest fight out there," Hearn told Jim White on talkSPORT. "But we can only concentrate on AJ's career and guiding him.

“ He (Tyson Fury) is miles away from fighting. He is in a terrible physical way at the moment. He doesn’t have a licence, he needs to go back to the board, and he is under investigation for a failed test.

"There is no one that wants to see him back more than me, but it is miles away. He is not the next fight because he won’t be ready in time."

Joshua has two mandatory contenders waiting in the wings as Luis Ortiz (WBA) and Kubrat Pulev (IBF) both have claims to being next in line, for what is expected to be return to action for Joshua in November or December of 2017.

'AJ' faces being stripped of one of his belts should Hearn be unable to work out a deal with either Ortiz or Pulev, whilst Wladimir Klitschko, beaten in eleven rounds by Joshua on Saturday night, also has the option of choosing an immediate rematch.

Either way, Joshua could be a belt lighter by his 19th fight, and losing a title at this stage would set Joshua back considerably in his bid to unify all the marbles at 200 pound plus.
