1. The Cubs misused him by trying to make him a closer, he isn’t

2. The Cubs are being cheap asses by releasing him now instead of allowing his option to vest with an additional 20ish appearances.

3. We offered him $8.5 mil but he overestimated his worth and ended up signing to a shytty team for $500k more than what we offered (under the premise that he was getting a 2 year deal which he would have).

He was the closer cuz alzolay got injured. Neris signed with a ‘shytty team’ who missed the postseason by one game last season

of course the cubs waived him so his option couldn’t vest he sucks his peripherals are all bad.the cubs called up a better option who misses bats

Since the deal, Neely has pitched in six games for Triple-A Iowa and posted a 1.35 ERA and 0.750 WHIP, with three saves and 13 strikeouts in 6⅔ innings. (13 K among 25 batters faced.)
