Mariners dropping like a rock as expected. They have the 16th highest payroll in baseball at around $147 million. That's third in the division behind the Astros ($255 million) and Rangers ($222 million).

It is absolutely shameful that they are spending that little. Seattle's one of the wealthiest metros in the country, they get good fan support and there's no state tax, just like Texas.

Here's a couple wild stats on Shelby Miller: he has a WHIP of 0.921 but his ERA is 5.01. And before someone says terrible luck, his FIP is still 4.28.

Yeah.
Shelby Miller only has 46 innings on the season.

If he were a starter, those would be his numbers around Mother's Day, and you would rightfully be skeptical that his WHIP would hold up.

His walk rate is driving those numbers. You'd expect that to increase. What I suspect is that because he's not striking a ton of guys out...lots of batters are just putting the ball in play more and getting unlucky.

Welcome back Neris :blessed:

He’s just the arm we need to help us in our pen and give Abreu a break.

On June 18, the Houston Astros lost to the Chicago White Sox, falling to 10 games behind the Seattle Mariners.

Since then, the Astros have gone 35-18 (.660)
