you sound goofy...like you too grown to be this enamored with them fake big weight 90's mafioso lifestyle rhymes

Leaving myself out of it and why it's personal for me, people always say Jay doesn't rep the streets, he sold out, but this just brings it all full circle.

The thing is, it wasn't and never was just rap. For Jay or his guys. Look at the people at the table. Emory did a 150 month federal sentence for this, to be there at that table.

Jay-Z rapped the whole thing, all four minutes of it, seated at the center of a Last Supper-style table, flanked on either side by his longtime business associates Emory Jones and Juan Perez. He looked relaxed, unbothered, rapping like a benevolent uncle from whom you’re lucky to hear old war stories.

For someone who’s been vocally skeptical about the Grammys over many years, Jay-Z ended the show wholly on his terms, like the final move in a decades-long chess game. An agitator finally ceded the throne.

Whether he — or Beyoncé — will ever deign to sit in it again remains to be seen.

That's from the NY Times

no need to leave yourself out, you've talked about selling drugs multiple times, you seem to love the lifestyle and really still glamorize it thru the eyes of a teen. nikkas get out of jail and have famoud friends who connect them, like, that's not as inspiraing as him doing that on his own with zero connections

ionno, shyt is goofy and jay was never some heavy weight, seems crazy to still believe that fairy tale, it's just rhymes

Aye bruh.

There are legit people out that there that needed him co-opting the imagery of The Last Supper last night to finally get the Jay Hova/Jehovah nickname pun. :dead:

They fukking brought out Rakim, Melle Mel, Salt-N-Pepa, Too Short and De la soul at the grammys and nikkas in here are pissed that they didn't bring out some underground artist from 1996:russ:

What you thought they were gonna call Canibus to the grammys?

Brehs was in here wondering why Jeru the Damaja didn't get some burn?

We was out here mad that Camp Lo didn't get to spit some bars of Luchini? :dead:

Because Jay raps this shyt for the ones that lived it. Everyone can listen, but only some are going to feel that shyt in their hearts and veins. It's not your life, how could you relate? And that's not criticism, same when J. Cole rapped intimately about college and majors, I fukk with Cole, but when he was in college, I was the same age, in a jail cell. So I wouldn't feel his music like that, or a Ye. And I love their music. Always did.

But Jay, "I never felt more alive than ridin shotgun in Klein's green five" and you can try to treat ya nose, but it won't come close

a verse like God Did, and a performance like that underscore the hustlers dream. To do 12 in the feds and come home for most is a death sentence, but for Emory it was a true hustlers dream come true. Your boy made it! and from a hip hop, standpoint, not a foot in the door, or a seat at the table, Jay had the whole table, metaphorically. Made the Grammy audience listen to 4 minutes of street shyt. Who else did that?

Sound sound sound
nikkas are so upset about certain people not being there..it’s crazy

They can’t fit 50 years into 15 minutes..it’s impossible ..so they reached out to certain people (who they probably have the better relationships with) and they said yes…and they created what they could out of it

Flabby heads really just like to fukkin complain about anything

Yea they did kinda skip the bad boy/death row era time period… and maybe the era after Nelly but before lil baby …but overall it was enjoyable..and them nikkas they called probably didn’t wanna do it

Naw breh. Grammys ain't slick. They made Hov perform in the street at the end so the uncomfortable white people could leave once AOTY was given out.

I mean, that's another issue, I can't prove or disprove how many stayed and how many left, but the fact he did it, is what counts, and it's not like that EMPTIED the venue. Even if it was 1/2 or the kinds of people who attend the grammys or are nominated.

Jay doing that verse at the Grammy's is legendary, that's a career high verse, and to THAT crowd, is just wow.

He's spitting straight dope boy drug shyt trafficking bars, with his former partners in crime, now all execs, at the GRAMMYS.

That's one of Jay's best verses, iconic, triumphant, defiant, reflective, insightful.

pushing fenty like fentanyl in the midst of the opiod crisis must have been to much lol, still a crazy line to throw at that crowds on national TV, he subtly shifted it, to "pushing fent NOT fentanyl"

"if those are drug lords, than who are we then"

"back and forth on this turn pike really took a toll on him"

"never know how this could go, me and Biggs probably got too big if they don't book that load"

That verse speaks to me in a way that few do.
