:ehh: You make a good point. Who knows. Rather go with some other free agents out there at CB.

i agree with you 100%... aqib is out there, and that would be a good look but he might be another bad apple

who I'd really like is that Smith kid from Dolphins... he's nasty but the problem is we're still hurting cap wise so whatever we get, will need to be at a discount

Yeah McKenzie got to figure out a way to get some good corners here without breaking the bank. Bartell and Spencer are :trash::trash::trash:

It’s no surprise that the Cardinals need help at the quarterback position. And so the Cardinals are expected to make a play for a quarterback early in the free-agency process.

But who will they target? While it wouldn’t take much to upgrade their depth chart, the Cardinals don’t have many options in free agency.

Drew Stanton? Jason Campbell? Brady Quinn? David Carr?

Yes, the options are limited.

Unless, of course, the Raiders cut Carson Palmer. There’s speculation in league circles that the Cardinals are waiting for that to happen.

Palmer is due to receive a base salary of $13 million in 2013. The Raiders are expected to press him to take less, and to cut him if he won’t.

Once again, don’t rule out the possibility of a trade, coupled with a new deal that pays Palmer less than $13 million but more than the Raiders are willing to invest. Even if the Raiders get only a low-round draft pick, it’s better than nothing.

Especially after giving up a first-round pick and a second-round pick to get him.
:obama: I hope this deal goes through ASAP. Hopefully the Card's can give up a draft pick. Hopefully they can somehow give up a bunch to get Palmer like they did with the Eagles to get Kolb. :russ: Doubt it. But, I think McKenzie wants Palmer to restructure his deal similar to how Vick did this offseason with the Eagles with a 1 year deal. Hope we release him though.

:steviej: Hope so. If he trying to get more money get rid of him :yeshrug: I'd rather chance seeing what Pryor can do. Cheaper option.

Palmer fits Arians offense of the QB throwing it 40 times, which is what Palmer does. So, he can gun sling it to Fitz 40 times a game. I think the Card's probably know that they can compete in the NFC, there defense is really good, but all they need is an OL and a QB, and they are probably thinking that they want a sure thing and not a QB that will take time to develop like Geno, so they thinking they are a playoff team. :russ: They probably thinking that they can swap Kolb for Palmer. :childplease: I just hope we just cut Palmer or trade a draft pick for him. Hopefully just trade down with the Card's and swap draft spots would be cool. :ehh:

:ohhh: Wonder if Pryor is the truth. If he learn how to throw without lobbing the ball he might be aite.

OAKLAND RAIDERS / 2013 TEAM NEEDS

OFFENSIVE OUTLOOK
In its first year under Greg Knapp, the Raiders’ offense struggled, especially on the ground. Oakland fired Knapp and hired Greg Olson, who will run a downhill, power-running scheme to help get more production from RB Darren McFadden. QB Carson Palmer has some young, talented receivers, but he has struggled since coming to Oakland. The O-line could have new faces, too.

TOP 3 OFFENSIVE NEEDS
OL — It was a rough year for the Raiders’ O-line under Knapp, and the hope is a new offense will get the most out of this group. There could be a couple of holes to fill, with OLG Cooper Carlisle and ORT Khalif Barnes entering free agency. ORG Mike Brisiel is undergoing surgery this offseason, and should be ready for minicamp, making depth at guard a focus.

RB — It appears that McFadden will return for 2013, after another injury-plagued season. Taiwan Jones wasn’t ready to fill his shoes, and Mike Goodson will be a free agent. FB Marcel Reece came through in place of McFadden, but depth behind the Raiders’ top playmaker is key, especially considering he has never played in more than 13 games in a season.

WR — There is young talent here, starting with Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore, Juron Criner and Rod Streater. This need is certainly low on the priority list, but Oakland should always be looking to add dynamic pass catchers. Another thing to consider: Heyward-Bey is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is due over $7.7 million.

DEFENSIVE OUTLOOK
The Raiders’ 4-3 defense is supposed to be predicated on pressure from the front four, but they didn’t get a whole lot of that last season. There are plenty of holes to fill, mainly up front on the D-line and in the secondary at cornerback. Rolando McClain’s situation brings up uncertainty at middle linebacker, as well. The Raiders could use an infusion of young talent on this side of the football.

TOP 3 DEFENSIVE NEEDS
DT — Oakland’s plethora of needs on defense begins up front. Richard Seymour is entering free agency, and Tommy Kelly, 32, is due a hefty salary of $6.5 million in 2013. Even if Seymour and Kelly aren’t wearing different uniforms next season, the Raiders need more production from the middle of the D-line. Seymour and Kelly combined for only four sacks and nine tackles for loss last season.
CB — This position was a nightmare for the Raiders. They parted ways with Ron Bartell, and Shawntae Spencer will be a free agent. Michael Huff had his struggles at corner, and there are no long-term answers at the position. Oakland could draft a corner who can start Day One, and it shouldn’t be hard to find an upgrade.
MLB — This position is a big question mark, centered on former first-rounder McClain and his future with the club. Reggie McKenzie was non-committal, but McClain, who was suspended by the team this past season and has been in trouble off the field, is no certainty to be a Raider in 2013. MLB Omar Gaither is entering free agency, as well, making depth an issue.

2012 DRAFT REWIND
3rd round (95): OG Tony Bergstrom / Utah (GP/GS: 9/1)
Skinny: Concerning that he did not work his way into starting lineup.
4th round (129): SLB Miles Burris / San Diego State (GP/GS: 16/15)
Skinny: A bright spot that could get look at MLB in offseason.
5th round (158): DE Jack Crawford / Penn State (GP/GS: 4/0)
Skinny: Project could still develop into contributing backup.
5th round (168): WR Juron Criner / Arizona (GP/GS: 12/0)
Skinny: Could be buried on depth chart again next season.
6th round (189): DT Christo Bilukidi / Georgia State (GP/GS: 13/0)
Skinny: Can factor in rotation as run-stuffing specialist.
7th round (230): OLB Nate Stupar / Penn State (GP/GS: 0/0)
Skinny: Spent time on practice squad with Eagles and 49ers.
SUMMARY: Trades by his predecessor handcuffed GM Reggie McKenzie, and Burris is the only true hit thus far.

@DConnollyNFL

To clarify RE: V. Young = no contract has been signed and #Raiders are kicking the tires to see if he can still compete. It's a tryout #NFL

@DConnollyNFL

Sources in Oakland disputing Vince Young tryout hearing that it hinges on moves made by team today #Raiders #NFL #freeagency

@DConnollyNFL

#Raiders denying V. Young tryout for next week to sources, however I can confirm that I have spoken to him directly & he is prep. for tryout

Edit: NVM:snoop:it's fake.

"@CorkOnTheNFL: For what it's worth, the guy linking Vince Young to the Raiders emerged from nowhere on Twitter today. Can't find any info on the guy."

Jets are reportedly targeting Mike Goodson to replace Shonn Green. - Goodson was acquired last preseason in a trade that sent offensive lineman Bruce Campbell to the Panthers. Goodson averaged 6.3 yards per carry for the Raiders last season. He makes for a nice speedy scat back behind Darren McFadden. On the flip side, he is seen as a zone blocking scheme running back and the Raiders are switching back to power blocking.
:ehh: Goodson was nice, but I'm not sure if he can be an every down back though and tends to fumble the ball. But, if we do let Goodson go, hopefully we get a good back-up, like Michael Bush when he was backing up DMC. :ehh: I guess Peyton Hillis or Michael Turner seems like they can fit in th epower running scheme, but Turner would want more money and wouldn't mind Hillis if he came here for cheap and was back-up for DMC. But, I'm not sure about him and his injuries too. Hopefully we can get a good back-up for DMC.
