:ufdup:When Bron was on that 60% streak I saw this niqqa with 3 seconds to end a quarterly half court literally shoot the ball after the clock expired to protect his fg%

YES, that's something that Lebron has done. Not just during that streak - he's done it lots of times. A lot of guys in the league do it - Durant and Battier have admitted to it, even Tim Hardaway and others used to do it back in the day. Battier said that most players think that way.

During the 1990s, I noticed a curious trend that All-Star guard Tim Hardaway seemed to be at the forefront of. No, it wasn’t his use of the crossover or inside-out dribble to dash past defenders. It was the way he treated last-second, buzzer-beating three-pointers. Not close shots at the end of a game or shot clock, but half-courters at the end of each of the first three quarters. He seemed to be purposely letting the ball go just a half-second after the buzzer went off, presumably in order to shield his shooting percentage from the one-in-100 shot he was attempting. If the shot missed, no harm all around. If it went in? Then the crowd would go nuts and he’d get a few slaps on the back, even if he wouldn’t earn three points for the scoreboard.

Here's Durant, from The Daily Thunder

“It depends on what I’m shooting from the field. First quarter if I’m 4-for-4, I let it go. Third quarter if I’m like 10-for-16, or 10-for-17, I might let it go. But if I’m like 8-for-19, I’m going to go ahead and dribble one more second and let that buzzer go off and then throw it up there. So it depends on how the game’s going.”

Kevin Durant sometimes doesn’t want to chuck heaves at the buzzer to protect his percentages, despite his coach’s wishes

"If you're a true shooter, those shots add up," [Battier] said, while making it clear that his view was also the opinion of most, if not all, NBA players. "It's not worth it (to shoot them).

Shane Battier and the buzzer-beater problem

According to Elias, a halfcourter is attempted about 27 percent of the time to finish the first, second or third quarter (it’s rare you see a heave to finish the fourth). For the season, there have been 758 games played in the NBA total, meaning roughly 205 halfcourt heaves. And total, there have been three total halfcourt or beyond makes. Three. Crunch the numbers and that means the league is shooting roughly combined 1.5 percent from halfcourt and beyond.

So it's a 1.5% shot, which means if a player gets maybe 10 shots to heave the ball in a season, he'll make maybe 1 every 8 seasons...and chances are that won't be a game where 3 points will make a difference. So while it IS stat-protecting, it is extremely unlikely that it affects winning and losing, and it definitely doesn't negatively affect the way the game is being played.

In fact, Lebron is 2-32 in heaves for his career, although he's only 0-1 since 2011.

Durant, on the other hand, is 0-6 in heaves for his career. Westbrook is 0-13.

So Lebron not trying heaves probably has literally no effect on the game whatsoever...and he's actually tried a lot more than other players have.

getalife.com

thunders n westbrook are irrelevent anyway

cavs, spurs, and gsw are the only teams poppin

I dunno. :lupe:

Cavs have Love out, JR might as well still be out, and overall are looking like shyt.

Warriors have Durant out and are looking like shyt.

Spurs have Aldridge out and are looking up-and-down.

First time this year that I'm wondering if someone might come in here and steal this one. Don't have a clue who though.

ROBOT BOY, NOBODY GIVES A FUCC.....UR BIGGEST IDOL, LEBRON, IS THE BIGGEST STAT-PADDER OF ALL TIME. FALL BACK.

HE CANT FALL ASLEEP WITOUT NUTTING TO A LEBRON PICTURE

The imbecilic immaturity of the haters on here is something else. I post about Westbrook and all ya'all are STILL obsessed about Lebron.

LOL NOTICE HOW THE ONLY DUDE OUT OF THE ONES MENTIONED HE DIDNT TOUCH ON WAS KOBE LMAO

Yes, because I HAVE posted in threads on why I think Lebron is better than Kobe. You know what "honesty in arguments" would be Sccit?

Good post I think even going the way you say it is

It's still outrageous to average a triple double over a season

Teammates help or not and still make the playoffs

Never thought I'd see this

Not sure why this made so many people upset. Yes, it's impressive that Westbrook can do this. There are few players in history that could do such a thing. But Westbrook's flaws have been magnified this season. First, his poor decision making at times. Second, hero-ball. Third, poor decision making and hero-ball.

Adams, Oladipo and Kanter have been out for substantial amount of time. OKC had a brutal schedule in January. OKC is 26-6 when Russ "stat pads". OKC could still get the 5th seed despite all of this...what a season. Only Bron & KD could match such a feat with that team

Their entire starting lineup of Westbrook/Roberson/Oladipo/Sabonis/Adams has only missed 17 games COMBINED. That's one of the healthiest lineups in the league.

Adams only missed 2 games all season.

Kanter only missed 10 games off the bench.

Son is a beast, just accept it.

Yes, Westbrook balled out against one of the worst teams (with one of the worst defensive backcourts) in the NBA. Does the fact that he stole like 6 rebounds from his own big men in order to get a triple-double make it a better performance somehow? :comeon:

I did notice on the highlights that Westbrook runs fast breaks off of outlet passes from his big men just fine. :mjpls:

Not gone lie watching Westbrook steal rebounds from his own bigs is funny as fukk :pachaha:
nikkas wanna get mad but they know they cant
If he doesn't grab those rebounds, the Thunder have no chance of winning. :troll:
Bruh the shyt is comical as fukk. You can tell that deep down some them nikkas is mad as fukk :mjlol:

Sabo must read the coli because he went far over his usual 10 assists per game.

All this drip on me
OP, reddit beat you to this

Basically he's playing 2k out here. Not even guarding people no more. This was 2 months ago but DeAndre Jordan had contested more 3s than Westbrook

I can't respect the hate, but I can understand it.

nikkaz trying to turn bball into baseball nah

So this post with empirical evidence and data backing up the analysis didn't garner a single dap. Wow can't say I'm shocked.

It's funny how everyone who doesn't believe OP or thinks he's biased, refused to read this post above where someone outside of the coli also discovered the same thing that OP has noticed about Westbrook deliberately stat-padding.
