When I think it comes to defund the police they were more critical of the labeking and hkw it does with voters as opposed to the policies that come with it. I do know Ana got into hot water because of her critique of some laws that were a bit too lenient on violent offenders and I think that even within the defund the police movement, we can have discussions on appropriate responses on what is fair and what could be downright negligent
They played that "it's bad with voters" card while pushing Rick Caruso over Karen Bass in their local mayoral election. They pushed it over homelessness and criminal justice plans. Caruso is a billionaire, lifetime Republican who switched for 2022 and pushed "give more money to police for training" type concepts. Caruso lost.
They hide behind "what will voters think," but they haven't been good at picking out what voters want, even locally (Cenk tried running himself a ways back and got his ass handed to him).
I agree that we can have discussions over disagreements. But that's not what Ana and Cenk tried to do with Ana's tweet. They doubled down, refused to engage, and acted like everyone else was attacking them in bad faith. If they had honest discussions with the likes of Emma, The Serfs, Rational National, or any others who critiqued them respectfully, they wouldn't be catching heat like they are now.
Plenty of people offered opportunities to discuss these issues, but they've chosen strawmen.
