Bittersweet. The last time I weigh myself before I start the 100 day Challenge. Which by the way has been made even more difficult thanks to my job. They are "renovating" the gym. Meaning I can't run inside if it's raining. So I can run outside, ride outside or ride inside.

I started up, 2 days ago. So I gotta ramp it up this week. Hoping to get it down to 173-174 by next week

5-6 pounds is a lot.

My normal workouts are max 1600 calories burned. Havent fukked up and needed to go extra hard in over a month.

1600 calories burned just exercising times 7 days is only 11,200 calories. Divide that by 3500 (1lb) and that's still only 3.2lbs burned just off hard work. If your diet is on point id be able to see 100% of that on the scale in 7 days.

My opinion is to take it easy and strive to get 2lbs off and consider anything more a bonus.

Only problem is tracking calories burned during exercise outside a lab is bound to be inaccurate. The best bet is not to chase it, get the cal deficit and use exercise as a bonus.

I'm only going to speak from a little over 10 years experience using polar products. Polar being a heart rate monitor company, not some fad or gimmick or add on (I.e fitbit, Apple watch, Samsung). I've utilized their equipment and programs to gain as well as lose weight.

I use the data, the raw numbers to monitor my caloric intake, my output. It tells me everything I need to know and it's reliable. The average person doesn't need a lab. A product like polar us more than sufficient when used appropriately.

How are using the data? Factoring cals burned and using that as your deficit as opposed to purely cals?

Big picture I would be more concerned about the person using a machine or non-heart rate monitors to chase a total.

If you are really dialing it in, more power to you.

I fluctuate pretty easily in the 5 pound range. I wouldn't be surprised if I got to 175-174 by friday and not through unhealthy means either. Thought I'd be gassed starting cardio back up but I've been fine. I wasn't in bad a shape as I thought:ehh:

the equations are pretty simple. There's your basal metabolic rate (bmr) which is a scientific equation that let's you know based your age weight, weight, how many calories you burn daily just existing. If you factor in activity levels, then workouts, and caloric intake you can get it down to a science.

I got some solid gains and shyt before I ever used science or tracked anything. Back in high school use using a sheet of paper that said bench Monday 155 x 3, 155 x 3, 165 x 2.

It wasn't until I got data that I understood how I needed to work out and what I really needed to do.

Even today there are times when I feel like I'm busting my ass and I'm looking at raw data and it's like :francis: gonna have to do better than that. Then there's days when I'm just on and the data is like :banderas:.

Most people's cars have digital gauges now. My best analogy at the moment is like the dash in your car. It's telling you how many mph you're driving, you know how many gallons of fuel you have in your car, you can see how many miles you're traveling based on distance and with GPS you can see where you're going, how long it's going to take you etc. All of that is data you can use to decide how you're going to drive and what you need to do to make time or waste time etc.
